The William in San Antonio, TX
4.5

[Name removed] was a sales manager that helped us initially. She was wonderful with the move-in process and even helped us find some movers to help move my dad's furniture. The nurses and housekeeping people that I met were very nice as well as the staff in the dining room. I liked how the dining room felt more like eating out instead of a cafeteria, so I think that's really nice. All of the staff are very friendly and helpful. When I call the front desk to check on things for my dad, they're always very nice and friendly, and they know exactly who I am. I would recommend this facility. The William is a nice place. And is a good fit for my father.

The Forum at Lincoln Heights in San Antonio, TX
4.6

I chose The Forum at Lincoln Heights because of the friendliness of both the staff and the residents here. As far as the food goes - So many of the dishes are covered with sauces or gravies. Offering the dishes with these on the side would be a major improvement. The vegetables are over cooked. They do have a good variety though.

Timberhill Villa Retirement in San Antonio, TX
4.7

My Mom, [Removed], has been here for 6 months and I am very pleased with the Timberhills community for her. It is a warm and peaceful community of caring people. She will have to transition to assisted living sometime soon, but for now it is a wonderful place for her.

Complete guide to independent living

Live Oak, Texas

Independent Living

Independent Living Communities provide individuals with a handy balance between an opportunity to live an independent lifestyle and not having to worry about the maintenance of basic tasks and responsibilities. Food preparation, recreational activities and housekeeping responsibilities are handled for you while you are unencumbered to use your time as you desire. Along with their daily needs being met, residents can enjoy an opportunity to be among peers, in a community with others of similar ages and backgrounds. Typically consisting of a private living area and a full kitchen, these communities offer residences with many of the amenities of apartment life but with none of the hassle. Guests can be invited over and entertained, and more time can be spent with them with the basic maintenance of daily chores out of the way. While policies differ between locations, many residences allow pets as well. Nursing and health care services may always be arranged for with independent care providers if desired. There are an assortment of expenditures and benefits to balance while selecting an independent living community. It is important to determine if these services are covered in the care plan: wellness program, move-in fee, transportation, field trips, parking, private phone, laundry, and meals. The luxuries associated with independent living include healthcare center, restaurant-style dining hall, fitness center & swimming pool, game/TV room, private rental hall, concierge services, security guards, and community activities.
