Staff there generally nice and helpful but there are usually only a few that make the difference as in this business there is a lot of turnover in staff. It is a very good value for the money.
We picked this community, the size. I wanted a small community for my mother so she could have more one on one. The staff and office personnel seemed sincere. I would say go here. I really didn't get to experience this place because my loved one passed.

The staff members are very helpful and they are more the willing to do whatever to help our loved one, they have been very accommodating to make our loved one feel comfortable. We have heard that the meals and dining service is decent and for what we are receiving we feel the value is worth it. Based on our experience we would recommend this community to other families.

I tour communities regularly. although its older, the staff are amazing. [name removed] is always prompt and finds what I need.
finding the perfect place for my dad was very important and when I left Colonial Gardens, I knew this is where he needs to be. staff guided us on the tour with smiles and happiness. I got to see how staff engaged with the residents and it was a great feeling. community is clean, smells good, and very home like/feeling. I would recommend Colonial Gardens over and over.

Our family is very happy with the Colonial Gardens community. The quality of the care is amazing, the staff members are so giving. It may not be the most fancy community or as upscale but the care and concern the providers give is outstanding. The entire staff from the cooks, to the director of nursing, to the maintenance are just wonderful

Colonial Gardens was a nice place. It was a little older looking, I think it was a converted home.
The Director at Colonial Gardens, Georgina is a gem. Over the years I have witnessed first hand her dedication and sincere love for her residents. She is truly invested in the well being and care of the residents as much as their families. The support and open communication she has with families is greatly appreciated. The "cottages" do feel like a home but they also have plenty of room for the residents to walk around and the patio and backyards are breathtaking. They are very natural environments with great big beautiful yards filled with plenty of trees and a peaceful and quiet atmosphere. And I can't forget to mention [name removed] and [name removed] who have also been there for years and treat the residents with so much love and dignity.

We chose Colonial Gardens because the friendliness of the staff, the warm atmosphere, and seeing the residents participating in the activities during our tour. Also for us, it was very close to our home. My father had a private room and it was pretty spacious. The best part about this community is the fact that the staff members have been here for a while, they seem committed to their jobs and it makes it a warm and comfortable environment. I would recommend the facility.

The care our loved one receives is great, she gets all of her meds, she gets her baths and hair done and her laundry done. We haven't been able to visit this community since March, but there is about four or five care takers that we absolutely love, they have taken amazing care of our loved one, they are just outstanding. The value is fine, its moderately priced. The personal care assistance's are great, however the house keeping is just okay, we have had to go there a couple times and clean our loved ones room because it was dirty and sometimes her clothes get mixed up with the other residents. The activities director is wonderful and they had a lot of activities for the residents to participate in before COVID. Since COVID the communication between the nursing home and the families is not that great. We are having to call and find out things, so it is greatly lacking. That is the only problem we have had with this community. The quality and variety of the food is not that good, it could use some improvements. They serve everyone the same thing regardless of their dietary restrictions and they get a lot of sweets. Every month we get medical bills that we get from her insurance that does not specify what the chargers are for. Especially since our loved one does not go to a doctors office, she uses the on sight doctor at the community.

My loved one has been at Colonial Gardens for three years. He has Parkinson's Disease. Although he participates less than he used to, there are many great activities for the residents. The care during the pandemic has been exceptional and the staff very helpful. The current Executive Director has a passion for the residents and has elevated the care of the residents since she was hired. She's readily available and assists in solving any issues. I love the small residences where there is a family feel. The food is delicious too.

A Place for Mom has scored Colonial Gardens - San Antonio 8.2 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
