They are pretty good. It's very clean. The staff is pretty friendly. They have stuff going on for activities, but they told me they take them out at least once a week, they told us they had a bus with a lift, and they don't. They told us when she was there she would be able to eat in any of the dining halls, the one on the independent living side has an open flexible eating schedule but when it came down to it, you have to stay with the assisted living dining room, if that is your section. We liked that it was faith based and that is really what drove the decision to move here.
We are so thankful for and pleased with St. Andrews. They have been very caring and helpful. I appreciate the time they take to educate us on items, when needed. Skilled nursing facilities are licensed and governed through the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) and federally by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). To maintain licensing, skilled nursing facilities (nursing homes) are inspected annually and must maintain minimum standards regarding staffing, safety, and quality of care.
Staffing and staff ratios are essential in skilled nursing facilities, with the current Missouri standards requiring:
DHSS also regulates assisted living and memory care facilities. Memory care facilities fall under the umbrella of assisted living. Assisted living facilities are required to provide assistance with activity of daily living, medication management, licensed physicians to direct health care, a licensed administrator in charge of the facility at all times, and resident rooms that are at least 70 square feet.
