It's not infrequent that the main elevator has one side that is broken down; older furnishings; worn carpets; minor repairs in family member's room needing repair by family members. The cleaning staff work very hard; maybe short staffed. The staff are all so very friendly from housekeeping, maintenance, front door staff, to direct patient care; they all went out of their way to help mom as well as family to settle in; they addressed her by her name immediately; always greet me when I am there; they are so helpful with any needs. I believe mom is getting good quality of care especially from [name removed] the Director/RN, PT/OT staff and the nursing assistants and med techs. My mom states she loves the food; dining staff are all friendly and attentive. My mom does not really participate in activities; but I know they are happening all throughout the day; she does go down to the weekly beauty shop to get her hair done. I believe that mom is getting good value for the money she is paying; she is getting good care in a friendly welcoming environment; and this is something she can afford on her monthly income; I am so grateful that we found St Louis Hills for mom; and I would recommend this facility to other family members and friends who are needing care for their loved one.... My father is in memory care and he is showered less than once a week. His floors are usually dirty. I guess if you don't mind your love ones smelling like sour milk when you visit, this is the place for you.

Location was where he wanted to be. And the price was the best we found, and completely covered by his insurance. It is an older building and has some maintenance issues. They seem to be understaffed.

My mother has lived here since June and I’m pleased with the care overall. The facility is clean and nicely decorated. The staff is kind, friendly, and attentive. They have fun activities for the residents, like Friday happy hour with live music, My only complaint is that they’re a little slow to respond when it comes to repairs at times. But aside from that, I feel my mother is well cared for and happy.

For Activities he's always in his room so I really don't know. For the cost, I thought it was high at first I just didn't realize hi how much it would bye-bye but I would recommend this community to other families

It is a poorly managed facility. The staff that give care are kind and compassionate. The nurse is overwhelmed and unorganized. The executive director is a cold and not compassionate in my experience. The way she handled herself in our situation was unprofessional. The senior living counselor was the one bright light in the whole facility

In reference to the staff, they are great loving and caring. However staff turnover is a lot The food is based on each individual taste I will tell you it's getting better because my mother is gaining weight!

I loved that they care very much about each individual in the space. It's apparent that leadership cares very much about their team, we've not had another facility with so little turnover and were people appear to be happy to work. The one thing I didn't love, they hired someone who was not great at redirecting folks in memory care. And after year of my mother being fine with every other worker, she started becoming aggressive with this one worker. When it was raised as a problem I spoke to the director about whether that person was on the right floor in memory care and she assured me that this person was well trained. However my mother became aggressive towards her and was kicked out of the facility. When we went to collect her things some of the other workers told me exactly what I had thought that this woman was trying to force my mother to do things she didn't want to do and was not well trained at guiding someone versus demanding for patients and memory care. Honestly, I wish we could take my mother back there. It was not a posh facility but the people were so caring and my mother was so well taken care of that we really loved having her there.

Well, you WILL be told upon admission that your loved one will get wonderful care and you won't need to worry about the care, just come and visit, no worries. Far from the truth. I had nothing but problems, from no forks to eat with to No help with cutting up food to no one checking on patients at night. I had a camera so I know how bad it was. Really I have nothing good to recommend to anyone.

The location of the community was my top priority. It was close to home so I could go over there multiple times a day to visit and check on my mother. The price was acceptable. However lots of promises were made on the initial visit that were not adhered to i.e finger foods and activities were few. At the end, the hospice services were exceptional. Like many other places I'm sure, the staff was not trained and the community was very short staffed.

Staff was so very friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately with my dad's diabetes and declining health, they were unable to maintain his level of care and we needed to move him to an assisted living facility for hospice. If it wasn't for his level of care increasing, I believe he'd still reside there.

For our family the overall experience was a 1 - they were not able to adequately care for our loved one and they said the food was awful. We do not recommend St. Louis Hills
Like all places, they have their advantages and disadvantages. You just have to weigh that based on your family's needs. I thought it was a good place overall - I liked the casualness of it. There were a lot of activities and people out and about. We looked at both assisted living and memory care, and I as not as impressed with their memory care unit. It just didn’t feel very welcoming or friendly. The size of units was very small, which in hindsight after choosing a community with larger rooms where everyone just stayed in their rooms, was probably why people got out their rooms and socialized more at St. Louis Hills. So there's definitely a trade off in terms of space and preventing isolation. But it was a very affordable option. If we had more cost constraints, we probably would have much more seriously considered St. Louis Hills.
It's a good place. I think my parents have had a hard time trying to figure out how to get involved, which is partly their fault. But it has been a good experience overall. I like the staff there. They're very approachable, and I've been happy with the care they provide.

My dad wasn't there very long. But compared to the previous place he was in, it was excellent. It was private pay, and we paid out of pocket. But for us, that was the best scenario. Dad was happy there. The interactions I had with the staff were wonderful. Cleanliness wasn't perfect but was was pretty good overall.

When we went to go visit our loved one we had noticed their room was was dusty and had crumbs all over so house keeping had not been there for awhile. We had to go down and ask for a broom to clean up their ourselves. However the meals there are excellent, and the activities are still pretty limited. The value for cost is not very good considering what we are paying and what they are doing, they have such a high turnover rate.

I would not recommend them for long term. The room sizes were kind of small. The food was adequated. My mom was in the dementia unit The staff did not understand the residents and they did not have enough staff.
