Hoffman Summerwood Community in West Hartford, CT
5.0 / 5.0

My parents are very happy and comfortable at the Hoffman community. The place is clean and well maintained. Everyone there is so nice, from the residents to the staff members. The food is good and they have so many activities.

The Residence at South Windsor Farms
5.0 / 5.0

They were very friendly and caring-my father enjoyed it while he was there!!! Always willing to answer any questions I had!! We have a great experience there

The Village at South Farms in Middletown, CT
3.6 / 5.0

I'm mostly happy with the facility. My mom enjoys the activities, & the staff are all very nice & friendly. The 2 negatives are the food has to be purchased from 1 supplier & the food is very bland & tasteless. The soups have little in them & my mom is used to the very chunky loaded with vegetables, meat & pasta & flavor that I cook. I've eaten there a couple times & even the fresh made Belgian waffles were a disappointment. Residents have spoken to chef in group meetings, but they said they can't make changes. The other negative is I've needed to get in to see my mom for emergencies & overnight desk person wasn't readily available to open locked doors. That is not acceptable. Overall tho, my mom is happy, making friends & enjoying the activities.

Nursing Homes

A nursing home offers lodging to at least two persons who have no family ties to the administrator. A nursing home community offers its occupants around-the-clock care administered by on-site nurses. These nurses offer specialized care for those who cannot properly take care of their needs due to their aging.

This type of community is a familiar and comfy care choice for individuals 65 years and above, however nursing homes will allow access to individuals 55 and greater which is for other senior care types. A large number of inhabitants are single women who have less social support, and about 50% of nursing home residents are over 85 years old. Examples of care services and amenities provided at nursing homes can include adult day services , patient and caregiver education, bill pay, and intravenous or nutrition therapy. As a resident of a nursing home, you can expect the right to participate in activities, get information on services and fees, be treated with respect, and have your representative notified about your care. Nursing homes are required to provide emergency dental services, specialized rehabilitative services (treatment for mental illness or intellectual disability), a professionallly directed program of activities, and medically-related social services to residents.
