Brookdale Beckett Meadows in Austin, TX

People are very friendly and caring. They are staffing up a bit which is helping. Any issues we have had is directly related to not having enough people power to handle the demand. Overall, the car has been good. It is clean. The food is good. The activities are plentiful.

Sodalis is an old building, but they do well keeping it up. I have watched the cleaning process when people move out, and have been pleased with the process, as well as the daily cleaning. The staff members who work with the residents are exceptional.

Sundara Senior Living in Round Rock, TX
5.0

My father joined the Sundara community a week ago. He is very happy there. He told my sister that they they treat him like royalty. It is a loving community where he gets the best care possible. The staff goes out of their way to ensure he has everything he needs to be well cared for both physically and emotionally. Because he is their first diabetic resident, they are having all the med techs trained in how to perform blood sugar testing. I think that says a lot about their desire to provide the best care for each individual resident and their individual needs. Now that I know my father is safe and is being well cared for, I get to go back to enjoying being his daughter, instead of his caregiver. I love my evening visits that we spend laughing and enjoying being with each other. The decision to move him was hard to make, but the right thing to do. Selecting Sundara Senior Living was the best decision I could have ever made for him.

Complete guide to nursing homes

Bee Cave, Texas

Nursing Homes

A nursing home is a complex that houses two or more seniors who are not related by blood or by marriage to the administrator. A nursing home facility offers its inhabitants 24-hour care administered by registered nurses. These nurses provide healthcare services for seniors who are unable to adequately take care of themselves because of their aging.

This type of facility is a familiar and comfortable care option for persons 65 years and above, however nursing homes will often accept persons 55 and above seldomheard of in senior care regarding different care types. As a resident of a nursing home, you can expect the right to make complaints, be free from restraints, exercise your rights as a U.S. citizen, and to manage your money. Nursing homes are required to provide room and bed maintenance services, emergency dental services, a professionallly directed program of activities, and medically-related social services to residents. Often times persons may choose life in a nursing home over another type of facility due to a physical or mental impairment that makes it difficult for them to accomplish the activities of daily living. Many occupants tend to be bachelors or widows who have less social support, and almost half of nursing home residents are older than the age of 85. The most frequent mental disease experienced by nursing home residents is dementia, which can hinder their decision making capabilities, memory recall, and and familiarity with their surroundings.
