I have been a resident for about one and a quarter years. There have been a number of problems due to weather and equipment failures. In all cases management made an exceptional effort to keep us fed and as comfortable as possible. I am impressed how friendly the staff is always with a greeting, most of the time with my name (I wish I had such a memory). I have observed the care the staff provides to those who have special needs and those who have unexpected problems. I believe Brookdale is a very good retirement facility.... Read more

The staff maintains a family focus where residents are constantly engaged in activities and interactions in the living and dining room. A large garden provides access to outdoor experiences.

I like the independence, but assistance is available if I need it. Dining service is aware of my diet and serves me food which I can eat safely. They also know my likes and dislikes. Management is open to suggestions.

My mother lives at Brookdale Lakeway in the Memory Care Unit. The facility is very nice and well kept. The staff is amazing, especially the staff in Clare Bridge. [name removed], at the front desk, is so helpful. Everyone is so friendly, helpful and welcoming to family when visiting! I would recommend this facility to family and friends.

My dad was in the hospital and rehab for about 4 weeks over the summer. During that time, many staff members cared for his cat, going in to feed her or just visit. That was peace of mind! The staff there are friendly and always greet all of us. They always pop into Dad’s room before meals to make sure he’s going to the dining room. He can have a tray in his room if he prefers.

What we really like about Brookdale Lakeway are the staff - they are very friendly and they really seem to do their job not because they get paid for it but because the truly have their hearts in it. We can be very critical and we have to say it is an excellent community that has met our expectations. The residents so not always participate in the activities but they have different board games, get togethers all the time and just a wide variety of things.

There is virtually no skilled nurse at this facility even though there is one on staff. Four different Drs appointments that took hours out of each day with the lab results from blood work not being sent to the Drs office even after repeated requests and reminders in the days leading up to each visit. Wasted $$$ and time on very important appointments to see if our loved one needed to be admitted into the hospital.

Response from Brookdale Lakeway
October 5, 2022Thank you for sharing your feedback. The safety and well-being of our residents is our top priority, and we are aware you have discussed these concerns with our executive director. We will share your additional feedback with our management team.
We toured with Brookdale Lakeway and it was very expensive. When we were walking around we noticed that a lot of the residents were just slumped over in their wheelchairs - it was depressing and it just seemed like they needed a lot more care than my loved one. It was just not the right fit for us.
visited Brookdale Lakeway and Brookdale Lohman's Crossing. Lakeway: clean, nice rooms, friendly, multilevel, a few residents reading, game table, not a lot of conversation. Lohman's more active, small, nice outdoor area, a lot of activity, clean, attentive staff. Friendly.

Visited Brookdale Lakeway with sister [name removed]. Loved the outdoor courtyards and the "hominess" of the facility. Concerned with the large floor plan as afraid my Father would get confused because each floor is so large. The rooms were very large and nice and the views were beautiful. Caregivers really seemed to spend time with the residents. Facility a little older and could be updated a bit.

A Place for Mom has scored Brookdale Lakeway 9.6 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
