Response from The Reserve at Lake Austin
May 16, 2024Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. Ensuring our residents receive the best care is our top priority, and effective communication is key to achieving this. Your feedback will contribute to our ongoing improvement. If you’d like to discuss your concerns further, please feel free to reach out to our Executive Director, Lisa Joy, at (512) 961-7789. Thank you.
While The Reserve is a beautiful setting, be aware that if your loved one needs attention, you will need to install cameras and hire private care to fill in the gaps. The executive director of the whole community is great and approachable. However, care plans are not followed consistently and require much oversight by family. We visit our loved one daily and still need additional care for them as the star employees they have can only do so much. From what I hear, all communities fall short, and I can't figure out why we can't solve these common problems. This community is not a good value, but it helps to be in a beautiful setting if you can afford it.

The Reserve is a beautiful facility. Feeling like visiting an upscale spa hotel, not like some that feel very institutional. A big plus is that residents can remain in the same apartment if their needs change from independent to assisted living. They have separate vehicles for appointments and recreation, allowing great flexibility for appointments. Although their base rent for independent is on the high side, their care level costs are lower than average.

Response from The Reserve at Lake Austin
March 12, 2024We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with us! Creating a comfortable and homelike environment for our residents is one of our top priorities, and we're pleased that you felt at ease during your visit. We truly appreciate your positive feedback!
I contracted for an apartment @ the Reserve as POA for an individual in late December under their EOY financing special - 50% off the community fee & 1st 3 month's rent - paid in advance. My individual's health dramatically declined and she had to enter a nursing home in late January. She never occupied her apartment nor did we move any furnishings into it. I canceled the rental agreement in late January and asked for a refund of the unused rent for February & March - they waived the 30 days cancellation due to my individual's health issues. Once we were no longer a prospective tenant their responsiveness declined dramatically. Calls weren't returned, emails weren't responded to unless prompted, and they became evasive about the refund - passing the buck to corporate. When I did get a refund it was slightly more than 1/3 of what it should have been w/o any explanation of how it was calculated. A very disappointing end and not what I expected based on how they had presented themselves.

March 11, 2024Hello, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We apologize for the challenges you experienced with the cancellation process. We are very happy. Reserve at Lake Austin is an excellent facility and has great staff. It is a very elegant and well organized facility. The dining rooms are small and intimate, and the other public spaces are very well designed and beautifully furnished. The rooms are very well planned with large windows and generous spaces that work well with normal furniture that one might bring from their previous home. The staff seems very proactive and the communication is excellent. Anytime my sister and I have a concern, we call the front desk and it gets resolved quickly. The residents have watches that they can use to call, but also to communicate with staff, so they have more sophisticated technology then other places. They have relationships with local gerontologist and we have been very pleased with the communication and coordination between my mother's doctor and the nurse at the facility.
