We are very pleased with the senior living experience at Bethel Lutheran Home in Selma, CA. The apartment is large and spacious accommodating any physical needs. The quality to which the complex is maintained is one of the best I have seen. Apartments are well maintained and upgraded. The grounds are so neatly kept that it makes your outside experience so enjoyable. The staff has been outstanding from day one. Their attention to the needs and concerns of their tenants is number one in all phases of their organization--Human Resources, Administrative staff, Maintenance, Housekeeping, the Dining Café.
Mom moved from her own 3 bed/2bath Home and she was pretty resistant at first. We narrowed her search down to 3 options and she knew right away that Truewood would be her place. They accommodated her wish for all vinyl plank flooring/no carpet and she found a 1 bdroom layout that suited her. She has encountered a few hurdles but overall she is adjusting well. Both staff and residents have been friendly and welcoming. She has found a few things to complain about as is her nature but overall she seems to be doing well.
My loved one is a resident at Pacifica Senior Living Fresno. The staff is AMAZING! However, it's the new owners that are failing. The carpets are nasty and should be replaced like we were told at the time of our sign up. Their staff is way over worked. The new owners don't treat them very well and staff are leaving and they aren't hiring more people to replace them. The food quality and portion sizes are going down hill FAST! They no longer have a chef, only 1 cook and it shows! It takes way too long to get food and we were told by the cook that all of the meals are now pre-made meals that they just warm up as they are ordered. They don't have any activities, except for bingo or cards after every meal and also an art class. Overall, for the cost, they need to do better.

An Independent Living Community permits residents the ability to live their active lives while ensuring their care requirements are being fulfilled. Food preparation, leisure activities and housekeeping are handled for you while you are unrestricted to use your time as you choose. Along with their daily needs being met, residents can enjoy an opportunity to be among peers, in a community with others of similar age groups and backgrounds. Typically consisting of a private living area and a full kitchen, these communities offer residences with many of the amenities of apartment life but without the hassle. Guests can be invited over and entertained, and there will be more time to spend with them with the basic maintenance of daily chores out of the way. While policies differ between communities, a number of residences allow cats and dogs as well. If medical or nursing assistance is desired, residents may always enlist the services of independent health care professionalls.
