Only been at HH for slightly over a year but have found all the nurses and staff to be very friendly and helpful, always willing lend me a helping hand when I need it. I enjoy the many little features that are provided, which are not provided in other living environments. Every week a new menu for all the meals for the ensuing week, an Activities calendar the month with live entertainers at least every 2 weeks, exercise programs almost daily, games and social get togethers, and religious sessions for those who want them. In all, HH is organized to help the residents enjoy their stay. I almost forgot to mention the providing of transportation to medical appointments off campus. This has allowed me to sell my car and save money. The drivers are friendly and our chats have been enjoyable. Needless to say, I like HH and living here. It is now HOME to me.

I can't recommend the community due to the way we exited the community. We had multiple attempts to reconcile a balance due and it was never resolved and we never heard back on a resolution to this.

They have to work out some growing pains in the business still. What is said that will get done and what gets done, doesn't always happen. They don't always think of the residents versus the comfort of the workers, for example: it's so cold there, they've got it down to 72. They are a company and they are there to make money; they're not in great favor, but this is my one and only experience with a retirement home.

Complete guide to nursing homes

Hockessin, Delaware

Nursing Homes

A nursing home offers residence to two or more individuals who are not related by blood or by marriage to the administrator. This type of establishment offers its inhabitants 24-hour care administered by on-site nurses. These nurses offer healthcare services for people who are unable to care for their needs because of their aging.

This type of community is a helpful and easy living choice for individuals 65 years and above, however nursing homes will often take in individuals 55 and above seldom heard of in senior care regarding care types. Types of care services and amenities provided at nursing homes can include friendly visitor programs, room and board, social and recreational activities, and help with legal questions. Nursing homes are required to provide routine personal hygiene items, pharmaceutical services, room and bed maintenance services, and nursing and related services to residents. A large number of residents tend to be bachelors or widows who have circles of support, and about 50% of nursing home residents are older than 85 years old. Often times seniors might choose life in a nursing home over another type of community due to a mental or physical condition that makes it difficult for them to accomplish their standard of living.
