Located in the vibrant yet historical town of Downing, Pennsylvania rests Simpson Meadows — a charming community offering independent living, assisted living, and memory care services. Residents can lounge by the crackling fire with family and friends in one of our cozy common areas, or breathe in the fresh air while admiring the lovely gardens inside our enclosed courtyard. Simpson Meadows is just a few miles away from some of Downing’s lovely attractions, such as the Longwood Gardens or the William Brinton 1704 House. With incredible on-site amenities, entertaining activities, and numerous city attractions, even the most active residents will have a hard time running out of things to do.
At Simpson Meadows, we provide a continuum of care services. Our community is split into three different sub-communities, based on level of care. Since the aging process affects us all differently, we have decided to make it easy for residents to transfer between the levels of care they might need. So even if you decide to move into our independent living community and realize you may require more assistance, we will work with you and your loved ones to make the transition as stress-free as possible.
It can...

I can't recommend the community due to the way we exited the community. We had multiple attempts to reconcile a balance due and it was never resolved and we never heard back on a resolution to this.

We had a very nice virtual tour, and my impression was that it was a very nice place. Ultimately, my loved one's funds are limited, so it was little bit expensive. We found some really great incentives at a different community. But Simpson Meadows had plenty of amenities, and the woman who led our virtual tour was very nice. This is no reflection on how they executed the virtual tour, but I’m just a hands-on person and like to see things in person rather than looking at a computer screen.
I was never told Covid was present when my husband was accepted at Simpson Meadows. He was keeped in a room and neglected. Lasted 24 days before he was transferred to Chester County hospital with severe dehydration, severe UTI. Died 5 days later.

This community is bright, cheerful and beautifully appointed in terms of furniture and decorations. Our loved one is in a two bed two bath apartment and it is just lovely. The food is better then average, and if she doesn't want to eat the meals provided she can cook her own in her apartment.

Simpson Meadows is a very good place to come. The friendliness, it is a smaller community and you get to know more people. In general the service is good. I've had no problems here. The room sizes vary, and I have one that is a one bedroom and comfortable. It might be small for two people, but for one it works. I have a full kitchen in my room, and laundry in my closet.

They are constantly sanitizing things in the community that are touched regularly. The staff seems to know most everybody's name and if they pass you in the hall, they will greet you by name. They did have adequate activities before the Covid-19 pandemic and the food was much better when we could go to the dinning room rather than heating it up. For what we are getting, I think Simpson Meadows is good value.

Something seemed off here. I did not feel comfortable with [name removed] or the tour. The $180,000 buy-in fir independant care is too much. The next level of care has very few aots & a long waiting list. Personal care area felt worn & didn't like how it smelled. The memory care residents seemed sad & listless. We would never put Dad here.

I loved the place. Very homey and they have exactly what I am looking for. I will present this idea to my family when they get back from vacation in 10 days and then go from there.

We are very happy with the care that my grandmother is getting here. She likes that the staff are kind and caring to her needed. The community is clean and the meals are appealing. We like that they offer her to participate in the activities for the residents. We recommend this community for the excellent value for a loved one.

Met with [Removed]. She answered my questions and we toured the facility. While the building looks like it is going through some needed upgrades and is certainly accommodating enough, I just didn't get the feeling that this would be the best fit for my Mom.

My parents toured this buy-in facility and promptly placed a deposit. Unfortunately, there is a wait list of 6 - 12 months which may prove to be too lengthy for my parents at this time. Their monthly fees were relatively modest but did not include certain mandatory requirements such a weekly linen service which is, however, availabe for addditional cost.

I have no complaints about the tour I had taken of this community. The staff where wonderful to work with and had a lot of great information to offer me as well as answer any questions. The apartments they had available where spacious and well kept. It was just not the right fit for me in the end decision.

I got a referral to see this community and when I did I was impressed with all the people. My brother-in-law likes everything like the people and the atmosphere, he fits in. The building itself looks brand new and the hallways are bright and cheery. They staff are very friendly and can't do enough to help everyone. My brother said to give top rating for everything they do.

I toured this community for the care of a good friend. The staff was nice and friendly and did answer the questions we had. They offer activities for active participation. They had a good menu of meals that would of been offered. We were not able to get in at the time needed, but we would recommend the excellent care families at this community
