The staff is very kind, but no one stays for long. The housekeeping is minimal. Available aides are scarce. The unimportant communication is there but getting contacted by the nurses and important people are lacking. The families must stay involved and engaged. Moving in was an easy process. My family didn't enjoy the food at all. They would get things that they didn't order and it took lots of time to get meals. We kept a stocked mini fridge in-suite to make sure that they ate. I could not, in good conscience, recommend this facility without major overhaul and update to staffing.

March 20, 2024We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback and are sorry to hear we are not meeting all of your expectations. We would welcome an opportunity to discuss with you further and encourage you to reach out to our management team.
My loved one was a resident at Brookdale Hockessin and overall our experience was fair or less than. The cleanliness was great. The friendliness was poor. The quality of care and the staff were terrible. There is a desperate need for more staffing at this facility. There is also a great need for better communication with the families. I would not recommend this facility to family and friends.

They were understaffed, and did not keep up with my loved one. They did not bring meals sometimes. The management was okay, but they really needed more help. The staff was sometimes very impolite. We only stayed here for three weeks. For others, looking into this place for loved ones, if it is still understaffed, do not go here.

Brookdale was our second preference, we really liked this facility a lot. They seemed to have an extensive gourmet menu and the chef actually greeted us during the tour. It looked very nice and would have been a great option, but it was up to my mom and she thought the location was too far.
My loved one just picked another community. I liked this community actually better than the community that my loved one went with but in the end of things I had to go with my loved ones wishes.

December 15, 2021Thank you for taking the time to visit and provide feedback!
Our family had an in person tour and we liked the closeness of the community, everyone there was friendly and we did like that after two years if your loved ones money ran out they accepted Medicaid. However, the building itself looks very tired, everything from the carpets, furnishings and decorations need a revamp.
Very nice. Loved the amenities and activities. Staff was very friendly and engaged.

We chose Brookdale Hockessin because of the convenient location of the facility for family, the food looked really good, and the staff members here are really great. They keep in great communication with us and let us know what is going on. My dad loves the food, they are chef prepared meals that are served. I would recommend to others looking.

We liked Brookdale community it was closer to our parents previous home. It is a nice community and smaller which we liked. However for both of our parents they only had one room available, hit reminded us of a hotel room and we just did not think that space was going to be big enough for them. The staff though was still very friendly and helpful
When they were meeting in the dining hall our loved one was very pleased with the food, but once it was being delivered to her room she did not like it as much. When they had activities she went to every single one and absolutely loved them.

It is an expensive community, and if are choosing this community make sure to read the contract with a fine tooth comb. Unfortunately our loved has been in and out of the hospital, and he still has to pay for all the services if when he is not there. However, he really enjoys the food which is important. The rooms are on the smaller side, but are nice and adequate.

[name removed] really did us well! My mother and I toured the facility and were really impressed - especially when they told us my mom's dog could come with her for her spate of respite care. If her stay is as good as our tour, we'll be incredibly happy.

I have no complaints about how the tour went for my loved one at this community. The staff where on time to our appointment and made sure to answer any questions we had for them in detail. They had a nice open floor plan with nice amenities available to all of the residents. Overall I was pleased with our experience it was just not the right location for mom in the end decision.

Very nice and clean facility. A couple items - there is just 1 standard room size and no kitchen facility and second the bathrooms are small and dated with no storage space.
