This community has a number of provisions concerning food and diet which include meals must be adapted to residents physical abilities , meals must be adapted to residents’ food habits, meals must be adapted to residents preferences, and the community must provide therapeutic diets as ordered by the resident’s health care provider for residents who require special diets. Before a resident is accepted, they must go through a service plan screening to ensure their needs are going to be met. This screening includes a number of areas of interest such as medical examination report, communities must document such assessment, monthly nursing assessment of resident as ordered by physician , and community must document any substantial changes in a resident’s status which may necessitate relocation to a more specialized community . The minimum number of residents for this community type is 1. There must be one bath or shower for every 1 residents and one toilet for every 1 residents. This type of community is required to have a staff member on duty 24 hours a day. This community type has a number of provisions pertaining to medication assistance. These provisions include staff may take previously dispensed, properly labeled containers from where they are stored and bringing them to the resident, licensed nursing staff may administer medications, and reading the label.
