This type of community is required to have a staff member on duty 24 hours a day. The minimum number of residents for this community type is 1. There must be one toilet for every 1 residents and one bath or shower for every 1 residents. Public assistance is available through 1915(b)(c) MLTC program. Before a resident is accepted, they must go through a service plan screening to assure their needs are going to be met. This screening includes a number of areas of interest such as communities must document such assessment, community must document any substantial changes in a resident’s status which may necessitate relocation to a more specialized community , monthly nursing assessment of resident as ordered by physician , and medical examination report. Staff members receive education in a variety of areas. These include: emergency evacuation, infection control, resident behavior and needs, and community emergency procedures. This community has a number of provisions concerning food and diet which include the community must provide a variety of regular meals that meet the nutritional needs of residents, the community must provide therapeutic diets as ordered by the resident’s health care provider for residents who require special diets, meals must be adapted to residents physical abilities , and meals must be adapted to residents’ food habits.
