My mother was only able to spend a few months in the memory care section of Juniper Village at Mount Joy, however, the care and compassion of the staff along with the cozy setting finally enable her to relax and feel at home. If you are looking for a warm and cozy setting for your loved one, I would definitely recommend Juniper Village.
Mom is very happy there. There are prettier, places with more amenities but these are much more expensive. Housekeeping in common areas is good, some wear and tear noted but these are hard to keep up with. Housekeeping staff are very friendly and well liked by residents. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Quality is good....not sure what to use as parameters. Sometimes communication between staff drops which. An cause delays. There is a nice variety of meals. Not always seasoned to my Mom's liking but have to cook for all. Hard to get condiments when needed. Loves the activities and bus trips. Lots to do if you want to be involved Activities director is great!. Have had issues with being charged for care my mom was not receiving. They were open to review and discussion
Was a little shocked on admission that they didn't ask more questions to get to know mom. I feel like we had to tell them about her routine rather than them ask the questions. It felt as though they were just going to wing it and I didn't love that feeling after helping my mom with her ADLs for the last few years. I feel as though there could have been a more standardized admission process. No one is not nice, I just felt that initially they were not very outgoing. Aside from Iris, I feel like no one (aside from those who admitted her) introduced themselves right away. I've now learned some people but it's been 4 weeks and I still don't know who is really caring for my mom and the role they play. Now my dad may have a different opinion on this. I think that all of the homes are way over priced and it makes it nearly impossible for anyone to make the decision to move a family member there. If it wouldn't have been for Phoebe's proximity to our home, there is definitely another village we would have moved mom to. Having to pay extra for incontinence products and laundry facilities is absurd when the cost is already nearly $[removed] a day.

Nursing homes, also called skilled nursing facilities, provide long-term care for seniors with significant physical or mental health conditions, and short-term care to people recovering from an injury or hospital stay. Nursing homes provide personal assistance and medical care from licensed professionals. Services in skilled nursing facilities often include:
A nursing home is an establishment that offers lodging to at least two seniors who are not related by marriage or by blood to the administrator. A nursing home facility provides its occupants with 24-hour care by registered nurses. These nurses provide health related services for seniors who are unable to care for their own needs.
This type of facility is a convenient and comfy care alternative for persons 65 years and above, however nursing homes will routinely admit persons 55 and above which is for other senior care types. The most frequent mental disease effecting residents of nursing homes is dementia, which can cloud their decision making capabilities, and familiarity, and memory function. Types of care services and amenities offered at nursing homes can include care coordination and case management, bill pay, friendly visitor programs, and intravenous or nutrition therapy. A large number of occupants are single women with circles of support, and almost half of nursing home residents are over the age of 85. There are some services that may come at a cost to residents which can include cosmetic and grooming items, specially prepared food, and flowers and plants. Often times individuals may select life in a nursing home over another type of facility due to a physical or mental impairment that prevents them from easily accomplishing their standard of living.
