Memory Care
My friend has been there for 3 years and is being treated very well. She is in the Memory Care unit and the staff there treats her like a friend.
My mother in law (90) spent the last 2 1/2 years of her life in care at The Pointe at Lifespring. She received the kindest, most loving and thoughtful care we could have ever asked for or imagined right up until her passing on [date removed]. She was treated with dignity and respect, and cared for like she was the matriarch of The Pointe family. We are eternally grateful for the leadership, staff and support from The Pointe, and recommend them for the care of you or your loved one. My MIL suffered from dementia and Alzheimer's for many years. The staff at The Pointe has a highly trained and dignifed memory care area. We can't thank [name removed] and [name removed], as well as the entire staff for the love and compassion over the past 2 1/2 years. We have been blessed to know and love The Pointe community. We had used 2 other care facilities in Knoxville prior to moving her into The Pointe, this made us fully aware of the differences in levels of care. The Pointe was by far the best!
The Northshore Heights community is a top notch facility, the staff are absolutely wonderful to work with. They give 5 stars across the board, they are always on top of it. We have been there while our loved one is eating and she never has any complaints to say. Based on our overall experience so far with Northshore Heights we would recommend this community to other families.

Being aware of Tennessee-specific laws and regulations can help seniors and their families find the best memory care for them. In Tennessee, memory care facilities are required to be licensed as assisted-care living facilities by the Tennessee Department of Health. In order to obtain a license, a facility must undergo financial and health and safety auditing that verifies that the facility cares for residents properly. The audits, which happen at least every 15 months, include inspecting the buildings, looking into protective care, and reviewing dietary services.
Inspection reports and information about all licensed facilities can be searched on the Tennessee Department of Health’s website. You’ll be able to see if a facility incurred any violations and what those violations were. The department also has a hotline to call to check on the licensure status of a facility. The hotline number is 877-287-0010.
Licensed memory care facilities must meet a long list of standards laid out by the state. A memory care facility, licensed as an assisted-care living facility, must create a care plan for every new resident within five days of admission, which includes medical, dietary, and visitation needs. While no specific staff to resident ratios are prescribed, someone is required to be awake at all times of day and night. All memory care staff must be provided special training to care for people with Alzheimer’s or dementia.
