Villas of Holly Brook and Reflections - Rantoul
3.9

A beautiful facility with spacious rooms and nice amenities. My experience with Hollybrook is probably not typical, but during a very stressful 3 weeks, the staff stepped up and helped my family through a very difficult time. Shortly after moving into the assisted living, my dad was moved to memory care with hospice and died shortly thereafter. We are very grateful for everyone’s help during that time. There are two lovely, fully furnished guest suites that were made available to us. That said, weekend and holiday staffing is weak, but I always expected to be be hands-on and in the facility everyday. That is my only complaint. As absorbed as we were in our own little family drama, the other residents always seemed engaged and happy, well treated and well fed.

Bickford of Champaign
4.7

The staff were friendly and encouraging and so supportive. My brother (the resident) entered The Bickford on hospice because of failure to thrive and within three months he was well enough to be taken off hospice. We had very little difficulty getting in contact with the staff, and they contacted me appropriately. I would strongly recommend this facility.

Brookstone Estates Tuscola
4.6

It's a very friendly place. They are very respectful to the residents. And they show true concern and care for them The facility is good. They clean the apartments every week. My loved one likes the food for the most part, although he's not picky. Sometimes it can be tough / hard to eat, which I think they need to consider for the elderly. But I would highly recommend Brookstone.

Nursing Homes

A nursing home is a building that provides lodging to at least two seniors who are not related by blood or by marriage to the administrator. A nursing home community provides its residents with care administered by registered nurses. These caregivers offer maintenance, personal care and other health related services for those who are unable to adequately care for their own needs due to the effects of aging.

Nursing homes are a familiar and comfy living option for persons 65 years or older, however nursing homes will routinely allow access to persons 55 and greater which is unusual for other senior care types. A significant portion of nursing home inhabitants are individuals who require assistance with daily tasks such as walking, have incontinence issues, have mental or physical disabilities, or experience difficulty with hearing and vision. Types of care services and amenities provided at nursing homes can include home care (like cooking, cleaning, or help with other daily activities), room and board, care coordination and case management, and skilled nursing or medical care. As a resident of a nursing home, you can expect the right to to manage your money, make complaints, get proper medical care, and be free from discrimination. The most common mental issue experienced by residents of nursing homes is dementia, which can cloud their decision making capacities, memory function, and and their sense of familiarity with their surroundings. Nursing homes are required to provide emergency dental services, dietary services, pharmaceutical services, and routine personal hygiene items to residents.
