They said she could have her dog and they would help her take care of it. The dog wasn't even there a week and they called and said the dog had to go.

I would tell a friend that, you need to go there every 2 - 3 days to make sure they are taking good care of your spouse or loved one.

The staff were friendly and encouraging and so supportive. My brother (the resident) entered The Bickford on hospice because of failure to thrive and within three months he was well enough to be taken off hospice. We had very little difficulty getting in contact with the staff, and they contacted me appropriately. I would strongly recommend this facility.

Smaller facility, meals are all made from scratch, good portions, and good. A few hiccups after moving in and medication management. Didn't have all the medications, medication distribution was missed a couple times, morning meds not given until lunch. This has improved was previously an issue. The primary reason we picked this place was the cost. Right now my mom is at $[removed]/month. She has her own studio apartment, 3 meals a day, medication management, 2 fully assisted showers a week, and housekeeping once a week.

When call buttons are pushed for help, the response time is short. It comes within 1-3 minutes. The staff members are usually pleasant and helpful and responsive, but, as primary family members, we've experienced they do not contact us or give us feedback unless we ask for it. It would be good to know that the facility knows what's going on with our family member by contacting us or having a periodic "care" conference. The food quality varies, from reports, but has a good variety. The housekeeping is average to better than the average.

Everyone was exceptionally nice and qualified to do their job. Went over and beyond to take care of mom. With 28 rooms in this section, was easy for residents to get around. Mom had a call button pendant for around her neck, if she needed anything. Very handy and I feel every care facility should offer one of these for each resident. I am so very thankful to everyone who made the last 2 months of my mother's life as good as it could be. They gave her dignity & made her laugh. They definitely made my life easier too--less worry and know she's actually being taken care of, unlike Illiini Heritage Nursing Home, where she was abused, neglected and molested. Mom was a resident about year and a half ago+. Many, many thanks to all of you who were there at that time.

We were never allowed inside. They called us at 6:39 in the morning to tell us our loved one had passed away. They didn't tell us until 10 hours later that they had found her face down on the floor. I wouldn't recommend anyone put a loved one in this place. Later on, I found out there were allegations about sexual misconduct of a male employee involving residents. I feel like this place should have been shut down long ago.

We chose Bickford of Champaign because the staff members had been here for a long time and they were very caring in their philosophy. They truly care about him and that is evident. They have been good with communication. I would tell others that even though the transition is difficult, the end result is wonderful after your loved one becomes more acclimated. The things we had hoped to accomplish by moving him in here are coming to be and it is really wonderful to see. I would recommend to other families who are looking.

We chose Bickford of Champaign because when we went to tour this was his favorite place. The room sizes here seemed to be good. Overall, I have not been able to be here a whole lot because of the pandemic, but I would recommend and already have.

Overall Bickford provides great service to my mom. They communicate well with the family, keeping us advised on mom's condition. There were a couple of communication issues when mom first moved in, but the staff has been very responsive and have resolved the issues. The activities they provide for my mom are appropriate for her condition and are much appreciated to keep her engaged. I appreciate seeing the schedule of activities and the meals planned daily online, since I live 3 hours away. I only wish there were cameras online so that I could look in on my mom, at least in the common areas. I have seen this available at pet day care facilities; it would be nice to be able to do so with my mom.

We are so grateful to Bickford for the lovely care they provide for my mother. Attentive, friendly, pro-active. Thanks so much. She loves being around the folks there in that community and hanging out in the sitting room with everyone for activities.

This place is smoke and mirrors. I would NEVER entrust someone I loved to them ever again. We did a surprise visit and were appalled. We pulled her out the next day without hesitation. My grams was being served coffee which she wasn’t allowed to have for health reasons and they knew that. Her socks hadn’t been changed in I don’t know how long they were heavy they were so full of dead skin. Her teeth hadn’t been brushed in again I don’t know how long but a mouth should never smell like that. Her depends were to small and no one notified us to change her size. Her legs were swollen from not being elevated enough. They were supposed to encourage her to walk and she was just left in a chair all the time. And to top it all off she had such a bad UTI you could smell it standing beside her. Her condition they allowed her to live in brought me to tears. We took her to a doctor the next day to confirm and clear up her horrible infection. If you DONT CARE at all about your loved one send them here. It “looks” nice and they put on smiles in front of you but they DO NOT take care of your loved ones. BE WARNED.

We had a great experience at Bickford Cottage. My mom stayed for 12 days. She is 101 and they took great care of here. [Removed], the director is fantastic. I would rate it a +10 in all areas. I was especially impressed how quickly someone returned my inquiry on your website with a phone call. And then the girl that called me was so knowledgeable about where she thought my mom belonged. I had considered a nursing home for respite care but she thought my mom would do fine at Bickford Cottage and she was right. We met wonderful people there and it is only 5 minutes from my home. I plan to use it again in March.

Toured Bickford. Our family really loved this one. There was a discrepancy when they explained the price and what the actual cost was. We cannot afford the cost of this facility.

I would highly recommend them to anyone. It is a nice place and they were very accommodating when we move my mom into the community. The staff go out their way to help her and they are very nice. She likes it there and that is a blessing because she did not like any other places. It is a smaller atmosphere and she knows everybody and made some new friends too.

We had a good tour of this community. Everyone was very kind, and helpful. Our questions were answered, and our tour guide was informative. It was a nice experience.

When we got to the Bickford, a lovely young lady gave us a wonderful presentation. She spend a lot of time with us and answered all of our questions. The place was more expensive than what we were looking for, though, bad it was far from the location we wanted.
