Ocean Meadow Memory Care in Clinton, CT
5.0

They have been great. It is a smaller facility so it feels much homier. The staff seems to be very in tune with all of the residents there. They get really personalized care, we really could not be happier. I looked at 4 different places and this one was by far the best and the least the expensive. It has been the perfect fit and I would highly recommend Ocean Meadow to other families looking.

The Village at South Farms in Middletown, CT
3.6

I'm mostly happy with the facility. My mom enjoys the activities, & the staff are all very nice & friendly. The 2 negatives are the food has to be purchased from 1 supplier & the food is very bland & tasteless. The soups have little in them & my mom is used to the very chunky loaded with vegetables, meat & pasta & flavor that I cook. I've eaten there a couple times & even the fresh made Belgian waffles were a disappointment. Residents have spoken to chef in group meetings, but they said they can't make changes. The other negative is I've needed to get in to see my mom for emergencies & overnight desk person wasn't readily available to open locked doors. That is not acceptable. Overall tho, my mom is happy, making friends & enjoying the activities.

Whitney Rehabilitation Care Center in Hamden, CT

The staff makes the difference in this facility! From patient care to case management and coordination with other agencies, our family felt that we were in good hands everyday. Special shoutout to [name removed], who helped arrange a smooth transition to rehabilitating care.

Nursing Homes

A nursing home community offers residence to at least two individuals who have no familial relation to the administrator. This type of community provides its residents with 24-hour care administered by on-site nurses. These nurses provide specialized care for seniors who cannot adequately take care of themselves.

This type of community is a convenient and easy living alternative for individuals 65 years and above, however nursing homes will commonly admit persons 55 and older (a rarity in the world of senior care). The most frequent mental disease experienced by nursing home residents is dementia, which can hinder their decision making abilities, and familiarity, and memory function. Many residents of nursing homes are individuals with interpersonal social issues. These can include verbal antagonism, resisting aid, or experiencing a desire to wander. A significant amount of occupants are single women with smaller social support groups, and about fifty percent of nursing home residents are older than 85 years old.
