Westminster Terrace Senior Living

It's been a much better experience than I thought. Mom has been happy with the food, activities, and staff. Yes, I'd absolutely recommend to others.

Atria Del Sol in Mission Viejo, CA
4.6

My mothers experience was good. She did have to stay on the second floor due to her diagnosis of dementia and that was not present for her...felt like a prisoner. The staff were very attentive and most of all she was safe so we could feel like we had a break from 24x7 care givers. She doesn't show signs of dementia most of the time but the doctor gave the word and Atria had no choice but to put her on memory care floor. We plan an another trip next April and will need some help then.

Vista Del Mar Senior Living in Long Beach, CA
4.8

My Brother has been a resident of Vista del Mar Senior Living for nearly 3 years, and we were very happy with our choice. We had problems finding another Assisted Living facility in Culver City, and Vista del Mar was perfect. It has met all of my Brother's needs and he has been very happy there. We have since found another Assisted Living facility in Culver City, and that is the only reason my Brother is moving. The new facility will have big shoes to fill. The Staff at Vista del Mar, (especially [Name removed]) should be proud to be associated with a great Senior Living Center. Thank all of you.

Complete guide to nursing homes

Fountain Valley, California

Nursing Homes

A nursing home offers room and board to two or more persons who are not related by marriage or by blood to the administrator. A nursing home community offers its occupants 24-hour care administered by on-site nurses. These caregivers offer healthcare services for people who cannot adequately care for their own needs due to their aging.

This type of community is a convenient and easy care choice for persons 65 years and above, however nursing homes will often take in individuals 55 and greater (a rarity in the realm of senior care). There are some services that may come at a cost to residents which can include special care services not included in the community’s Medicaid payment, personal comfort items, and a private room, unless medically needed. Types of care services and amenities provided at nursing homes can include patient and caregiver education, monitoring serious illness and unstable health status, personal care (including dressing, bathing, and toilet assistance), and skilled nursing or medical care. Often times seniors might decide to live in a nursing home over another type of community due to a physical or mental impairment that prevents them from easily accomplishing their standard of living. The most frequent mental disease experienced by nursing home residents is dementia, which can cloud their and familiarity with their surroundings, decision making capabilities, and memory function. A significant amount of occupants are single women with smaller social support groups, and almost 50% of nursing home residents are over 85 years old.
