Staff works hard to provide quality outings, food, experiences, etc. But we need better screening of the needs of new residents (many seem too needy.)

Most definitely would recommend to others. The only thing I would highlight is my thankfulness for the Westmont staff with their positive, professional, and caring engagement with residents and visitors. My Auntie and I have been so happy with her experience at Westmont. While this is our first and only experience in an assisted living facility, I really can't expect anything much better.

My husband was in the memory care unit. We hired a 12 hour a day companion for him because we could not be there with him 8 hours a day. The companion called us at 1:00 pm to tell us he found him unresponsive and curled up. The staff never checked on him. We called paramedics--he had suffered a heart attack and had a 104 Covid fever. They told us he had been vaccinated but when we checked records he had not been vaccinated. Had it not been for the companion he probably would have died by the I got there after work. The staff there do not check on residents in the memory care unit. I do not recommend Westmont.

Response from Westmont of Cypress
April 18, 2023Dear Sarah, Due to HIPPA rules (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act), we are restricted from commenting regarding a former resident’s care. However, we do take the word “care” seriously as it applies to every resident. Within our memory care building we have med techs and care staff who check on residents throughout the day. On the particular day that you referenced in your review, our Executive Director and Resident Services Director were discussing concerns over future care options with your family. We wish your family the best. Best, Westmont of Cypress
My mom moved into the memory care building at Westmont Cypress a year ago. I really loved the place at first. Clean, new, building, knowledgeable and helpful staff, good food and lots of outings. My mom had outings once a week! Then they fired the nurses to save costs and raised the rates 16% in one month. My mom had a good rapport with the nurses due to their knowledge of how to work with Alzheimer’s patients. The caregivers try really hard and are very nice but now they are overworked with less staff to help. The outside outings have stopped I have been told because there is no driver for their shuttle bus. The food has gone downhill- one of the residents was so upset about the food that she tried to get my mom to join her protest group. I am not surprised that there has been an outbreak of bed bugs in the facility based on what I have seen as far as cleanliness. The front entrance to the Compass Rose had ketchup on the wall for three weeks and I am surprised if they ever vacuum.

We picked this community because, of the overall appearance and it was a new facility. Now that they have more residents, the dining room is always full, and there is a long wait for food. Often the portions are smaller. It would be helpful if they hired more staff.

It was very nice, feels like you are on a cruise ship.
Westmont of Cypress has been fantastic. It is a brand new and beautiful facility. The staff are exceedingly happy to help and responsive to our needs. The leadership is visible and engaged with the residents. From opening until now, we have seen consistent performance of all aspects. The residents are all friendly and engaged with each other. The environment is very warm and welcoming.
We had a great tour experience with Westmont of Cypress. The facility is new and absolutely beautiful - especially the grounds. Unfortunately the price is what got us, it was just too expensive.
Very nice brightly lit buildings. Apartments are also brightly lit with plenty of electric outlets. Food is great - lots of choices. Staff members are all super friendly and competent. All utilities included in rent. My husband + I have lived in the independent living section for about 3 weeks & are very happy here.
I liked this community a lot. This community was brand new so hard to get a feeling for it. They did a great job with the tour and was able to answer all of my questions and give me all of the information that I needed.
This community is awesome. Excellent service, beautiful and the food is spectacular. All residents are very friendly and nice. So happy we moved here.

A Place for Mom has scored Westmont of Cypress 9 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
