Brandywine at Senior Suites in East Norriton, PA
5.0

First, you need to see this facility. They did a major renovation and it looks so different. It has been modernized and looks amazing. My Mom has been at Brandywine for a few years. It is a tough decision to make when your loved one needs more care than what you can give. The apartments are roomy. The food is wonderful. There are so many activities that one will never get bored. My Mom is now on the Reflections-Memory Care Unit. The care and support that she receives is amazing. She is well cared for. The staff is so genuine and supportive to my Mom and family. Administration takes the time to talk with you and answer your questions. It is like an extended family. I am so happy with making the decision to move my Mom to Brandywine.

Friends Village, Styer Campus in Newtown, PA
4.2

We chose this facility because I thought it would fit my brother-in-laws personality better. He is in a community where there are 3 or 4 suites, almost like a motel set-up. He has a dog so he is able to go out the front or back door, its more private and personal. His cottage is good sized, it has a bedroom, bathroom, living room, and kitchenette, we are happy with the size. He is entitled to one meal a day, and he has not had any complaints about the food. I would definitely recommend Friends Village. I could not ask for anything better for him.

St. Mary Villa, a CCRC in Lansdale, PA
4.4

When it comes to the activities, our loved one does not participate in any, but I think he would if the staff members made some kind of an announcement. They also have a family practitioner, dentist, and podiatrist that do visits on site. Based on the experience we have had so far, we would recommend St. Mary Villa to other families.

Complete guide to independent living

Willow Grove, Pennsylvania

Independent Living

For many seniors, cost of owning a home and the maintenance of daily tasks and chores might deter them from living an independent life. Independent Living Communities provide a great remedy to this situation. Basic needs such as meal planning and housekeeping are handled by staff and a calendar of recreational and social activities is provided, allowing residents the autonomy to use their time as they see fit, free from daily responsibilities. Along with their daily needs being met, residents can enjoy the opportunity to be among peers, surrounded by others of similar age groups and interests. Typically consisting of a private living area and a full kitchen, these communities offer homes with many of the amenities of apartment life but without the hassle. Guests can be invited over and entertained, and there will be more time to spend with them with the basic maintenance of daily chores out of the way. While policies vary between communities, a number of residences allow cats and dogs as well. If residents decide they would like to enlist the services of private medical professionalls, they always have the option. There are an assortment of expenditures and advantages to keep in mind when choosing an independent living community. It is important to learn if these amenities are covered in your care plan: laundry, cable TV, utilities, Waiting list deposit, housekeeping, internet access, parking, and field trips. The amenities associated with independent living include beauty salon & barber shop, restaurant-style dining hall, concierge services, community activities, golf course, fitness center & swimming pool, private rental hall, and laundry service.
