Our overall experience here is pretty good. The residents are friendly for the most part and adhere to the rules most of the time, yet some people are stuck in their ways. It was difficult in the beginning for us to get needed repairs, but the maintenance came thru eventually. The activities and food are good, the staff just sometimes seems overwhelmed or preoccupied with other things. There should be more consideration with the last minute cancellations and the water shut offs, after all the residents here are older and cannot always find alternative resources.... Read more

The meals are not applicable and they could improve on the speed of maintenance but based on the experience we have had so far, we would recommend this community to other families. .

Areas for improvement- Roaches and mice running across the floors Handicap ramp near the entrance, fix up the elevators with pics, or paint the walls. Install security barriers at the parking to delineate the entrance. I saw a group of kids running and playing from within the below street parking area. Install a proximity reader between the buildings to use an electronic door between the two buildings, or add security personnel at YONO

My loved one is currently a resident at The York House. Overall, the experience has been very good. The cleanliness and the staff are good. The friendliness is great. The move in was difficult because the freight elevator was in use for something else, otherwise good. My father enjoys living at this facility. I would recommend The York House to friends and family.

While the location looks perfect, it is impossible to get in touch with these people. Consequently, the scheduled tour never took place.

If you like a lot of noise from garbage trucks banging the garbage bins at 5:00 in the morning, or a CATERING BUSINESS with noisy refrigerated trucks lined up and running. And delivery trucks jockeying for space with the Republic Garbage and Catering Trucks, Or those annoying backing up alarms going on and off at once. Or if you like a building managed by insensitive management and a lot of early morning and afternoon noise, then The York House is a place for you to live.

My dad is doing very well. Everything there is great and is the right level of care. The staff are professional, caring, and attentive. They are willing to help me with any concerns. They have been great people to work with especially with my circumstances. My dad makes his own meals and has all the amenities to prepare his meals.

My father is doing pretty well here at this retirement community. We are satisfied with all they have done for us. We did have some minor issues at first, but they have since corrected the issues. They do a very good job with the cleaning, everything looks spotless. The staff isn't bad, they have been very helpful. There are many activities offered. Everything is working out well and I would recommend it.

I’d give the friendliness of the staff a ten out of five. Great place – great place for seniors! It’s clean, friendly. I went to the orientation with my loved one and the food was delicious. They Zumba class, jazz, oldies but goodies night, the veterans come in and spend time with the other veterans. They have a lot going on. They’re keeping my loved one busy.

This is a totally independent community where neighbors look out for one another. This is not the best option for her.

My mother toured the York House, it was very impressive because of all of the amentities, the social activities, the 24hr.security-on each floor,on-grounds,throughout building, the availability of shuttles, freedom of independence. The down side of this visit was the size of the studio apartment and cost. The size of a two bathroom apt.and cost.It was conveyed, just imagine a one bathroom apt.at an difference rate for rent. Their weren't any 1bth/1apt. available.

No two bedrooms; one bedroom two baths; strange layout. About 1500 a month plus 300 for second person; can get dinner for 300 a month. Concern regarding neighborhood (N Broad st) and some studios subsidized.

A Place for Mom has scored The York House 8.9 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
