The price was great and overall it was a decent place. The rooms were bright and a good size. Some of the staff were so wonderful. My mom complained about the food. The facility was clean but older. It was perfect for our needs and was the right price for my mom. We were happy with the care she received there. There was some lack of communication that I think could be an area to improve upon but overall it was a positive experience. It was a nice place that worked for my mom. She was able to live independently with things like preparing food and doing laundry and cleaning taken off her plate. The staff was friendly and caring and did their best to make it a comfortable place for my mom. When she got sicker and she needed more help, they were able to assist her while still allowing her independence and dignity.... Read more

Springfield misled us. Quoted a price, then changed after first month was paid. Not cleaned properly. Dining room floor was sticky. Never received the alert system. Menu didn't match what was posted. The majority of the workers were very nice. Management was not receptive to issues that needed addressing. Security was not good, people could come and go at all hours. No one at front desk at night.

Upon entering the facility, [name removed] (my sister and new resident) was put in a unit with no heat. When we visited the unit, there was heat. However, the heat was not working when she moved in. Management knew there was no heat but said nothing. Since then we've experienced no land-line phone in the unit (still no phone). A missing window screen. Most repairs are minor. But these type repairs make a person's residence difficult. It seems Management is trying to upgrade the building, however the, "turn-around-time is too long. No one keeps residents (or their family) up to date on repairs. The staff is extremely helpful. Everyone seems to go out of their way to help residents and their loved-ones. Addressing issues in a faster pace would DEFINITELY satisfy all involved. Obviously repairs will be needed in such a facility. The way it's dealt with will determine how an individual feels about the facility.

They were pleasant, professional. They could answer questions and if they did not know they answer, they found someone that could answer the question. I would highly recommend Springfield Senior Living.

I feel that my loved one is satisfied with the facility. A few issues I could make note on is that the kitchen must have trouble staffing enough help, so meals run late sometimes. I know they had no heat and no hot water, as well. Not the fault of facility, but a rough couple weeks. Looking forward to things going uphill. The staff are very pleasant.

Big apartments, nice views and beautiful grounds. The staff could empty trash in the apartments every day and mop floors once a week. The staff very friendly and make a point to call you by name. When it comes to the activities, the staff goes around to apartments to let us know if a movie is playing, activity going on, or if it's happy hour. Food is horrendously awful. Have spoken to the person in charge of dietary with no change. Spoke to the overall director who seemed concerned but no changes. Having a food committee meeting on [date removed]. We will see if anything can be accomplished!!!

Overall, Springfield has great potential once they get the staffing they need. Most of the staff are very friendly and caring. They interact positively with the residents and are understanding of their needs. With additional staff (and on-site security) the ratings would be much higher. There is a need for more trained staff or training in general at the facility. Especially in food service. Their seem to be a need for organization in food management. The on site menu does not always reflect what is available to be served. The Director does have regular meetings with residents to get their feedback/complaints and try to address them. would recommend it to other families for consideration.

They tell you what you want to hear while there, received a bill for we don't know what & can't get a call back to answer our questions about this bill. I took care of every amount they requested & she owes nothing so would like to understand this bill, we called 4-5 times & no return call. The food is out of a can & bag they don't have cooks just people following directions. Smoke detectors on first & second floors have bin chirping for a month. [name removed] is paying over [fee removed] a month because their doctor thinks she needs meds that her personal Dr didn't find & they have to administer them

Unfortunately I would say it wasn't a good situation for loved one personally. She declined rapidly there and it was torture for me realizing the care wasn't going to be what I'd hoped. But in the end, I know they did more than they were obligated to, and I am grateful to them for what they did do for my loved one.

Our family had an in person tour with Springfield Senior Living and we really enjoyed the admission person at the community, but the community just seemed to be pretty run down, old and dark. We do however recognize it is a real challenge to adapt or upgrade an old or historic building.
They have excellent staff and the facility paid attention detail. We picked this community because, it was close by and had a good reputation, with a good cost. I would recommend to others. They offer good nursing caring Kndness, and a good ambience.

Sometimes the staff has attitudes, and does not seem to be compassionate with the residents. They are not helpful with, resolving issues with care concerns. They are not delivering the services, that they promised. They don't seem to check on myloved one as often. It has been a very dissapointing experience. There is not too many options with the food. The food is terrible, always bland, which is simiiar to institutional food. It is canned food, and they don't seem to care about my loved ones food preferences. On a positive note, my loved ones room is clean, and they are always well groomed.

I didn't see any residents or interaction with the residents. This may have been due to COVID.
Make sure you check in on a consistent basis, because even the people who handle the money had things incorrect. They never contacted me when my loved one stopped paying her rent, so they sent me a huge bill after she passed. If they had contacted me, I could have intervened and made sure they got their money. Unfortunately over the last 4 yrs, they've gone downhill. They've changed directors every single year. There are more young people on staff, and with young people come young people problems, for instance you say hello and they just look at you. However, most of the staff are very courteous and friendly. For the most part they were gracious and nice. I wish they had communicated better though. They did not let me know there was Covid in the building, and the first I heard was when they told me my loved one was having breathing problems and needed to go to the hospital. The food was excellent. It was flavorful and didn't taste like diabetic food all the time. They served it with linen cloths on the table, and you could order off the menu. All in all it was a pleasant experience. They dealt with my loved one's memory issues very well. She was a force to be reckoned with, and they just rolled with it. They made sure she was moved to a secure part of the building when she figured out the codes to the elevator. They couldn't have handled that part of her care any better.

My mom is there now, and they have done really great job with her. They have taken a personal interest with my mom and other residents. They really take care of them. This community is very clean. My mom is in the memory care unit, they offer card games, as well as arts and crafts. They have a pool table, as well as entertainment come in to play music for the residents. They also have church services on Sunday. This community doesn't look like a nursing home, it looks more like a hotel.

We toured this community for my mother, and her needs. Our tour went well, but this wasn't the community for us. However everyone was kind to my family, and I. The experience went well overall.

We used this community and it did not work out, he was there for an hour. They couldn't handle him. They went out and assessed him, accepted him, and then he acted up and they sent him back to the geriatric ward.

Overall the general care is okay. Sometimes there are not enough staff to get medication or anything we need. It takes awhile for someone to get to my mom. It would be nice to not wait long. The meals are not gourmet but it is pretty good. It took a while for them to communicate to the staff to have her meals cut up.

A Place for Mom has scored Springfield Senior Living 7.6 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
