My ratings are based on comparison with our lifestyle before entering Wesley Enhanced Loving (WEL). The biggest change was demographics: about 80% of the residents are women, and of those, about 60% or more use walkers. Note that we reside in an independent living apartment. The culinary team tries hard and offers a large and varied menu. However, the quality is inconsistent, and I would describe it as a step above institutional food (like school cafeterias). Because of the demographics, the activities are skewed toward women. Also, many activities are limited in attendance, requiring signups which leads to disappointments If one did not get to the sign up book early enough. One other thought: the campus is kept I excellent condition with seasonal plantings and attractive trees.... Read more

Very nice place! Staff and residents are all very nice and helpful. A lovely place for my parents to live in independent. However, our choice to move there was based on the CCRC, lifelong living, type of principle where if one or both of them needed Personal Care they could stay there, same building, same people, etc. The biggest issue, is that the PC there does not assist at all. Not with transfers, walking, toileting, etc. Basically meds only and the occasional assistance, I would recommend it, if you're aware from the beginning that it may not be long term

Response from Wesley Enhanced Living Upper Moreland
September 6, 2024Hi. Thank for sharing your good opinion of our continuing care community’s staff, amenities, and services. And we do understand your concern for your parents as they begin to need more care. Our Personal Care services include help with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as showering, dressing, grooming, personal hygiene, toileting, transfers, and Medication Management. Our communities support residents in performing ADLs with the assistance of one staff person. When residents require a higher level of service and the assistance of multiple people, we work with them and their families to develop a plan for care and service; this can include external assistance or transfer to a higher level of care at one of our communities or another facility of a family’s choosing.
I have recommended Wesley to several friends with elderly parents, apartments are bright and cheery. The building is always spotless and grounds are kept very nicely. The staff is always friendly and it appears they truly care about the residents. They always have entertainment and decorate for all the holidays. My mom is happy.

Response from Wesley Enhanced Living Upper Moreland
August 5, 2024Lynne- Our staff works hard to make our residents feel right at home at Upper Moreland- our residents are our priority! So great that your mom is enjoying her surroundings and some of our many activities and programs. We are glad to have her as part of our community!
It's great for Independent Living but they're very inflexible and unwilling to accommodate residents as their needs increase and capacities diminish. They're also weirdly obsessed with the appearance of their lobby TV area such that they will wake any residents who fall asleep in front of the TV and don't allow them to have drinks or snacks there.

Response from Wesley Enhanced Living Upper Moreland
July 9, 2024Thanks for your four-star review of Wesley Enhanced Living Upper Moreland. We do pride ourselves on our friendly, hard-working staff, clean and appealing environment, and robust activity schedule. But we know you had some questions. -Regarding our care services, our Upper Moreland community offers independent and personal care senior living options. When a resident requires higher levels of care, our community works with them and their family to find an alternate placement. -When residents fall asleep in the community common areas, the staff are instructed to gently awaken the resident and suggest that they go to their apartment and take a nap. -As for casual dining, we have a Bistro in the lobby area where residents and guests are able to enjoy food and beverages. Please reach out to us with any other questions or concerns at: 215-675-0103. Thank you.
The staff members are warm and friendly and they help with everything. The buildings are maintained and clean. The programs are run well. My mom feels safe.

This is a great place to go. I would recommend the community to others for their loved ones. The friendliness of the staff and the apartments are very nice. The staff are easy and helpful to work with if there are questions or concerns. The food is good for my loved one. There are staffing shortages in the dining room due to the pandemic. Some of the activities available include shopping trips, movies, crafts, resident committees, and more for the residents to choose from.

Response from Wesley Enhanced Living Upper Moreland
March 22, 2022Thank you! We appreciate hearing our resident and family member feedback.
We have been here for a few months and it really is a terrific place. The have cottages you can live in, or apartments in the main building. We chose to live in the cottages so we did not have to deal with the elevators and being confined into the rooms in case there was a covid lock down at all. There are 38 cottages which is terrific. They are attached to another person cottage at one point in the room, almost like a duplex, but you cannot hear them. The bedrooms are all carpeted, everything else is vinyl flooring which is really pretty and nice. The monthly price is very reasonable, we only have to pay for electricity and they pay for water. They also take care of everything, anytime something breaks they come to fix it or they replace it. The cottages also come with a garage, and somewhat of a driveway so one car can park in the garage and the other behind the car. The garages are also very wide and very deep, its like no other garage you have ever seen. The cottages also have very nice patios, they are about 8X10, and you can extend it for an additional fee. You can also put an awning out there if you want. It is surrounded by a lot of trees which is really pretty. This community is much cheaper than others in the area. The cottages also have a front porch, which helps us meet people outside and we can sit outside and mingle. This community has an upscale feeling to it, they recently got their liquor license, so they have a bar and a nice bartender and a new restaurant. They do have nursing care here, but we are not sure of the extent of that care since it is more independent living. Also the physical therapist and occupational therapist that comes are absolutely amazing.

August 11, 2021We agree, our cottages at Wesley Enhanced Living Upper Moreland are a great option for those wanting to downsize and enjoy the benefits of being in a senior living community, but aren't quite ready to move to an apartment. We're happy that you're here!
Our experience is en-light of covid - We think they are doing a terrific job keeping the community clean. They renovated the mean lobby and a few other small areas and it really has made a difference. It feels almost hotel like and it is fabulous. The meals at first when our loved one moved in were fabulous, but once they had to lock down the meals were awful. However, they are allowed to eat in the dining room again and the meals are getting much better. They are doing minimal activities which we are very thankful for. They are taking the residents on bus rides, and for the holidays they are giving them little gift bags.

March 26, 2021Hi Eileen, we're glad to hear that your loved one is enjoying our newly renovated areas and for all the efforts our team has made to keep our residents active, engaged and comfortable during these unusual times. We look forward to returning to normal and fully opening again!
Our family can’t say enough good things about Wesley Enhanced Living. My mom and Dad needing to move, we went everywhere in a 10 mile radius so that we could be close to them. Most of the places were either over priced or just plain horrible. We called [name removed] eat Wesley and she met with us the next day! It is a beautiful space with lots of light and the staff and residents are so friendly! To top the excellent experience my parents moved in in March 2020, yes during COVID, Wesley was so careful and well prepared. My parents of course had to be quarantined, but they never felt like it the staff took care of everything from bringing them their delicious meals everyday to even taking out their trash. My parents have now been at Wesley Willow Grove/Hatboro for 6 months now, the community is still COVID free and my parents have never looked better. They are so happy and finally relaxed. Their long time neighbor from the house even moved into Wesley as well and is loving it. Thank you Wesley for all you do!

My family and I are overwhelmingly happy with the way WEL UM have protected my parents! I can’t tell you what a relief it has been for me to know they are in no danger. I appreciate your efforts. I am sure you are catching all sorts of slack from residents, but as your updates clearly state, you have to look out for the whole community and have been doing an amazing job keeping them COVID 19 free. Thanks again!

Wesley is elegant and very clean. The lobby area is sunny and bright, it invites you to come and sit for a while. The fireplace is a cozy addition. Wesley Upper Moreland is a very nice place. The staff are friendly and attentive. They offered one and two-bedroom units. Each apartment has its own washer & dryer tucked away and out of site, and a nice size full kitchen. There is a library and exercise area. Transportation is offered daily to the grocery store, hairdressers and drug stores. It is a very friendly community that is in an ideal area. There is a nice selection of activities for the residents.

We visited the community yesterday and met with [name removed] about living accommodations for my mom. [Name removed] provided us with a generous amount of information that made our decision to choose this community easy. We were also very pleased to see the quality of the housing as well. The facility is maintained to a standard that I would expect if I were to visit as a potential tenant. The complex offers a wide variety of activities which was also an important component for making an informed decision. We were very pleased with our initial visit.

Look elsewhere. My mothers apartment was robbed recently and many valuable items were stolen. Doesn't appear that too many people on site care about this incident. I am sure there are other places that are more secure and safer.

Response from Wesley Enhanced Living Upper Moreland
January 25, 2019We recently had an unfortunate incident where items were reported stolen, and after investigation internally and by police, the family informed us that it was a misunderstanding and that the missing pieces were actually found in the resident apartment. Aside from that, we are unaware of any stolen or missing items. If this is a situation other than the one described, please contact our Executive Director, Robyn Kulp, immediately so we may take the proper steps to investigate. We take all resident complaints very seriously. Thank you!
Nice place, well presented. Apartments on the small side. Not a lot of amenities but that is a plus as far as I am concerned. Don't want to pay for a lot of things that I will never use. Not comfortable with purchasing a cottage and having your equity vanish after 4+ years. Staff was informative and helpful. A good initial experience.
