An excellent sales person and the facility is beautiful. Pros- Great decor, a pool, doctors on site, a hair and nail salon too, a nice courtyard, and a walking path through the adjoining community are all very nice. They also have a ride service for appts off site and a lot of activities offered daily. They make bed & do laundry! Cons- Move in wasn’t as guided as we felt our parents needed. We left not feeling they knew what to do or where to go the next day. We did contact sales about this. Also- There are different levels of care that each resident gets and we were paying for a level for my MIL that she wasn’t getting. But we found out she wasn’t being given showers through her, not the nurses or staff. Big difference in our cost and not okay. Lastly, they weren’t submitting paperwork to long term care that we had filled in & communicated upon move in. A lot of time & phone calls on our part to get that going. Overall due to pros above we recommend the place but be on top of things!... Read more

Response from The 501
August 26, 2024Thank you, Jill, for reviewing us. Thank you so much for your kind words about our community’s sale team, amenities, activities, and housekeeping. We also appreciate that you allowed us make things right when there were miscommunications and are glad that overall it’s been a positive experience for your family.
We chose the 501 because the facility was clean, stylish, they offered a good care plan, had caring staff and a friendly administration. All of the staff seems professional.

The facility is wonderful as is most of the staff. My complaint would be that they to hire need more help. Overall the 501 is a wonderful facility!

Response from The 501
August 26, 2024Thank you for your review and mentioning our friendly, hard-working team members, as well as our engaging activities and light-fill building. And thank you for recognizing the positive changes we’ve been making in our menus and dining service.
There could have more activities for the residents, some days they are bored. The place is spotless. The people are very nice. As far as I can tell they are doing a good job. I've heard some of the residents say they don't like the choices, but the menu looks good to me. They need to have more exciting options. I've heard the residents say they don't care for the activities they have, the calendar appears full, but maybe asking them what they'd like to do and incorporate new things might be good. Seems to be in line with other places. It's pricey but it is a very nice place so I think it's priced fair.

October 5, 2023Thank you for taking the time to provide a 4-star review of The 501 at Mattison Estate. It is valuable for us to hear what we can do better to earn all 5-stars in the future. Our MOSAIC life enrichment calendar of activities is thoughtfully generated each month with direct input and recommendations from our residents. If your loved one has a hobby or interest that is not being offered, we hope they will take a moment to share that information with our staff. We take pride in empowering our residents to lead the way. The same holds true for menu options. Our Dining team welcomes new ideas for menu options. All they have to do is share this with us!
During our search for an Assisted Living facility for our loved one, we took a tour of The 501. This facility was new and great! The friendliness was great. It had more open space and was large. However, this facility was more expensive than most others that we toured and it was further away from home.
I'd pretty much give all the above categories a 5 rating, with the exception of food. That can be hit or miss due to lack of staff in the department.

A Place for Mom has scored The 501 8.8 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
