My mother chose the life plan at Elm Terrace moving into Independent Living. Thank God she did! Shortly after she moved in she needed skilled care for rehab after a fall. The therapist worked so hard to get her to the best level they could, the staff was so helpful and caring. Because she needed additional help she was then moved to the personal care unit. The staff there helps her with her needs and encourages her to keep her independence with what she can do. I can sleep easier knowing she has someone there for her 24/7... Read more

beware ! get an attorney before signing any papers ! We had problems with management, we were going to move my father out and the manager tried to make us a deal by lowering the price and also they said they would wave the 30 day notice if we decided not to stay. Turned out to be we decided to go some where else and they sent us a bill for the 30 days ( of which we were not there) they said they wood wave that bill, mean wile they did not keep there word. be careful ! Make sure you get everything in writing .

My mother lived at Elm Terrace Gardens for many years. She started in independent Living in which the staff was caring and did everything they could to keep her as independent for as long as possible. Once she needed more care she moved to personal care. I can't tell you how much of a relief it was knowing the caring and helpful staff was there to take care of my mother. The staff really became part of our family especially when they were the only ones able to be with her throughout this pandemic. I will always consider the Elm Terrace Gardens staff part of my family. As hard as it was to accept her decline and leave the unit she had become accustomed to, when she had to move to skilled, the staff were so welcoming and caring. I could not be happier with the decision to move to Elm Terrace Gardens. Would definitely recommend!!! If your looking for a community definitely check out Elm Terrace Gardens.

We took care of our loved one for years before moving them into Elm Terrace, but they fell in our house which required them to get surgery. After they were released from the hospital we moved them to Elm Terrace, and our loved one never received the rehab the community advised they would give. The day before our loved one was going to be released she fell and broke her hip which was so upsetting to our family. The community said they were understaffed which was the reason our loved one did not receive rehab, and when we would go to visit our loved one was always just sitting in a chair - there were no activities at all. It was not a stimulating environment, our loved one never had anyone to talk to. They also put her on hospice which we were very confused by, and our loved ones hair was rarely cleaned and when we would bring it up to the aids they advise that was hospice's job. Her hearing aids went missing on two separate occasions, and the value was way to expensive for the inadequate care we received. It was just a hell hole and we pulled our loved one out. It was an awful experience and we felt sorry for all the elderly seniors that were there

The skilled care 2nd Floor Unit showed itself to be an overcrowded ,understaffed and uncaring environment for my beautiful Mother in her 90's and the other elders put at their mercy. They line up the seniors in their wheelchairs for the day ,shuffling them to meals but mostly sitting them in front of the desk or a small Tv.There was zero interaction with the seniors whenever I visted. .I found it bleak and quite shocking to witness the lack of care and attention given the seniors ..Her spirit shriveled in the 8 months she spent there and I left with a heavy heart with each visit.I thank God we found a better ,more caring place for her to live out her precious days. To see the elders so helpless and unattended too broke my heart. There seemed to be more and more helpless seniors lined up and less and less staff to attend to them. This is a real eye opener to witness the lack of caring that elders receive at ETG .Think twice before 'committing 'your loved ones here.

So about Elm Terrace...it is a beautiful place, the independent living is great...…….HOWEVER, pray that your loved one NEVER has to go to the 4th Floor! This is the personal care floor, and majority of the staff on that floor does anything but provide personal care. To watch a loved one be treated they way they do is a horrible experience. So they get you into Elm Terrance with the appeal of the place but what they do not tell you is the lack, quality of nursing staff on 4th floor. So if your independent go for it..it is great..but be aware if you ever need personal care.

My grandmother lived here for a few years - we are now looking for my mother in law! We loved the care so much we decided to look here again. The staff is compassionate and caring. I really can't say enough good things about the community and the staff. This place is very much worth looking into!!!

I refuse to provide a name with this review because I firmly believe that my parents will suffer the consquences which has already happened. For few years we have gone to administration because nursing staff has attitude and say things to humor me. Things get better for little while then go right back to where they were sometimes even worse. Elm Terrace is great on the outside, they come off friendly caring etc..but once there you are a number. I have witnessed staff doing nothing, one time right in front of nurses desk where nurse was sitting I had to clean up a "mess" on floor so I could walk by. I regret ever putting them there. For the money they charge the care is terrible.

My mother lived at Elm Terrace Gardens for two and a half years. It is a beautiful facility, but you need to look beneath the polished surface. Even though she purchased the "life care" plan, it was a constant, difficult battle to have Mom provided with a safe environment and appropriate medical and routine daily care. My suggestion is to review the entire contract with a lawyer BEFORE you commit. Don't assume that the brochures and sales pitches are telling you the entire story. The contract will tell you the truth about how this facility is run and how LITTLE they will provide when your loved one really needs help. This is a business, and their ultimate decisions will be made to benefit and maintain the business. Do your research. Don't be naive and trusting like I was.

Response from Elm Terrace Gardens
July 11, 2016Hello, my name is David Nicholson and I am part of the leadership team at Elm Terrace Gardens (ETG). I am so sorry to hear about your experience and the ETG President, Timothy Murphy, and I would love to speak with you if you would be so kind? We would like to hear more about your mothers situation, how we could have handled things to your satisfaction, and how we could have communicated better with you and your family so situations like this DO NOT happen again! Thank you so much for the time you have taken to review our organization and for considering to speak with us. Please feel free to reach out to me at [removed] to set up a time when we can speak at your convenience. I sincerely look forward to hearing from you.
My cousin lived there for over years once she passed away the company told me i had hours to remove my things i did not agree with the lack of compassion the company had for my love one or for my grieving family. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

Response from Elm Terrace Gardens
July 11, 2016Thank you for your heartfelt review of Elm Terrace Gardens and I am so sorry to hear about the lack of compassion we showed for your family. If I can recall correctly, we did prematurely contact you regarding the need to vacate your loved ones room and that should not have been done! Since this instance, our CEO has thoroughly discussed this in many management meetings and with all of the appropriate staff members. I know that there is nothing that we can do now to repair the trust that we have broken but I hope that it may give you solace that we have corrected this issue so no other families will go through that during a time of loss again. We thank you for allowing us to serve your cousin during her time with us at Elm Terrace Gardens. If you would like to discuss anything further, please feel free to reach out to me at [removed]. Respectfully, David Nicholson
The only bad thing about the food is they are in the middle of a kitchen renevation for the dining room and the food is cold, they are cooking it at the church next door. They could rent something to keep the food hot. This is the only thing where they could improve.

I actually toured on my own. Although Moim is not ready for such a move, I was very impressed with the facility and would definitely consider them if and when the time comes.
