We attended an information seminar and we were intrigued by the presentation and eventually became the second couple to move into Brier Pointe when it opened. We were drawn into the community by the promise of all-inclusive services to include meals, housekeeping, paid utilities, transportation services, social activities & events. We have not been disappointed at all. In fact, we've met so many new friends and my husband has received a new lease on life. He was introduced to Chinese brush painting, and this is his new passion. He has painted 45 pieces in 14 months and has even been offered up to $200 for some of his work.
[name removed] and the entire staff at Emerald Pond genuinely care about the residents. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a community for their parents. My Mom likes it there.
I have never seen a place where everyone on the staff smiles and is friendly with only an exception or two (none in key positions). The food is great -[name removed] the restaurant manager, is terrific. The facilities are top notch & maintained well. Likewise, the residents are almost universally friendly & chatty, which my loved one really enjoys. The facility is located in a great area: good shopping, easy access to medical facilities. Cost is high, but not out of line for services received. All these places are expensive.

Independent living offers a stress-free lifestyle for older adults. Independent living communities don’t provide personal care or supervision, but do offer generally healthy adults opportunities for socialization and hassle-free living. Independent living services often include:
An Independent Living Community permits residents the chance to continue to live an independent lifestyle while ensuring their fundamental needs are fulfilled. Frequent needs such as housekeeping and the scheduling of social activities are taken care of, allowing residents more free time to live life as they see fit. Along with their daily needs being met, residents can enjoy an opportunity to live among peers, in a community with others of similar age groups and interests. Typically comprised of a private living space and a full kitchen, these communities offer homes with many of the amenities of apartment life but without the hassle. Guests can be invited over and entertained, and more time can be spent with them with the basic maintenance of daily tasks out of the way. While policies differ between communities, a number of residences allow pets as well. Nursing and health care services can always be arranged for with private care providers if desired. There are a number of costs and benefits to balance while deciding on an independent living community. It is important to determine if these amenities are covered in your service plan: internet access, parking, field trips, laundry, initial assessment fee, housekeeping, transportation, and move-in fee. The benefits and amenities associated with independent living include healthcare center, game/TV room, security guards, transportation, beauty salon & barber shop, laundry service, concierge services, and fitness center & swimming pool.
