Final move from a lifetime in California,

After deciding that a senior living home would best suit my needs and desires at this time in my life (I'm 87 years old), I first started visiting senior facilities in California where I was born, raised and lived most of my life. Most of my elder family and friends were living "elsewhere" at that time. I visited a grandson and his family in Holly Springs, North Carolina over the Christmas holidays and visited some facilities that I had researched online prior to my arrival. When I walked into Atria Cary, I immediately knew this would be my home. The location and beauty of the facility, friendliness of the staff, wonderful apartments, activities galore, entertainment, delicious restaurant style served meals, exercise room with gym equipment and classes, a huge heated pool room with water aerobics classes, art room with classes, billiards, card games, puzzle tables, etc., planned trips, and a staff of physical and occupational therapy professionals for those in need of their services.... Review for Atria Cary

I have never seen a place where everyone on the staff smiles and is friendly with only an exception or two (none in key positions). The food is great -[name removed] the restaurant manager, is terrific. The facilities are top notch & maintained well. Likewise, the residents are almost universally friendly & chatty, which my loved one really enjoys. The facility is located in a great area: good shopping, easy access to medical facilities. Cost is high, but not out of line for services received. All these places are expensive.

My mom is currently a resident at Atria Cary and everything has been beyond great for us at this facility! This is and has been an amazing experience, both for my mom and my sisters. If this is what we have to look forward as we age, sign us up. This place is like no other that I have ever experienced.

Our Experience

My mother-in-law chose to only stay there briefly, she's not very social and I think she decided she wanted to go back to her home and live the way she had been living in isolation with her garden and her chickens. The staff was exceptionally friendly. The place was immaculately clean and we found everyone was mostly available to speak to us. The only thing is, when there was a problem with the billing it was hard to get an answer as they told us they were going to handle it but it took a few phone calls to get it corrected.

Our family had an in person tour with Atria Cary, and overall it was a fine tour experience but it was too big and too far to the apartment from the restaurant and they only offered one meal a day.

Absolutely exceptional experience beyond our wildest expectations!

In December 2022, my mother and father-in-law made the life-changing decision to move to Atria Cary. It is beautiful and the amenities are seemingly endless. But what sets Atria Cary apart is its heartwarming sense of genuine community spirit. There is a camaraderie and friendship that permeates the atmosphere. The residents treat each other like long-lost friends, creating a community of warmth, support, and companionship that is truly heartwarming. And it's not just the residents who create this magical sense of community; the staff are a big part of that as well. Their dedication, compassion, and love for the residents shine through in every interaction. Our family feels incredibly blessed to have found such an extraordinary community that cares for its residents like cherished family members. If you're looking for the perfect place for your loved ones, look no further than Atria Cary. It's a decision you won't regret.

I moved into Atria 7 months ago. Our daughter, [name removed] suggested this place. I was content in my townhome but I am so happy here. I love meeting new people and sharing my life experiences. We all have lost a loved one and understand each other's sadness at times. I was most concerned about my doggie, Austin but he adjusted quickly. He likes all the other dogs and taking walks with me around the building three times a day. I love the fact that I have my privacy and can step out my door and socialize anytime of the day. I feel safe here and for the first time in my life I feel pretty much stress free. After 66 years of cooking I like going down to the the dining room and being served. I have made close friends and we all talk about how blessed we are to be living here.

A Place for Mom has scored Atria Cary 9.6 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.

Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
