One popular destination is the historic Lark Street, which has tons of independently-owned shops and classic architecture. The largest park in the city is Washington Park, the origin of which can be traced back to the 1686 city charter. The park has served many roles throughout history, including a gunpowder storage area, a cemetery, and a parade ground for military demonstrations. Now the 82-acre park is primarily used as a nice place to enjoy the nice afternoon sun.
