The staff is very accommodating, friendly and responsive. Maintenance is great but they could use another one or two to avoid backlogs. There was a food debacle when they changed vendors but that seems to have worked out. The memories are pretty good and they give my mom good support for doing charity sales and stuff. A few more excursion type activities would be cool. But by and large my mom is really really happy with her decision. Also has a lot of great friends she's met.... Read more

After visiting four other retirement facilities, we selected Avila for its friendly climate, services offered, meal opportunities, and several religious services provided on-site. Now, with three years of experience at Avila, we are pleased with our decision to join this community. We also know that Avila was selected the "Best in the Capital Region" for retirement communities through the Times Union for 2024. We now look forward to many more years at Avila.

The residents and staff are very friendly at Avila Independent Retirement Community. Everyone in the community wants to help make the transition as seamless as possible. There are many opportunities to learn how things work and everyone is eager to share. The meals are excellent. There are always choices and substitutions are never a problem! Lots of activities to choose from - and kicking back is always an option. I would recommend this facility to anyone looking to make the move.

Avila is a beautiful, health-giving retirement community. My husband and I hope to live there in the not too distant future. My sister has been living there for the past year. She and we have been so happy and grateful for Avila.

We had an excellent tour at Avila. It was a beautiful facility. The staff were great. I thought the whole place was top of the line, cream of the crop, high end. Everything there was great. The decision just came down to preferred location.
I would recommend you look into the community to see if it is a good fit for you or your loved one. The friendliness of the staff and residents stand out the most to me. The food is excellent. They currently have the dining room closed due to the pandemic.

A Place for Mom has scored Avila Independent Retirement Community 8.2 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
