I have been a Resident of Beechwood for over six years, but at this time of pandemic and destructive weather events I especially appreciate the "peace of mind" it allows me. Not having to worry about handling details of a healthy and safe environment is a blessing.

Having witnessed elderly neighbors living in their homes well past the time when they could cope with them, my wife and I moved to Beechwood while we were still healthy. We found a friendly community that allowed us to be as active and independent as we wanted to be while eliminating the chores of home ownership and having available the services we needed as we aged. Having access to other services on the same campus was particularly useful as my wife’s health failed and she needed nursing home care. The staff is excellent and worked hard to maintain a sense of community and activity in spite of the pandemic-necessitated limitations on what we could do. My experience here has been all I could expect and I am very happy that we made the move to Beechwood.

Beechwood is the only urban senior living community - right in the City of Troy. Proximate to the thriving culture of downtown - with unique shopping, Farmers’ Market, restaurants, arts center, Troy Public Library, Troy Music Hall, Russell Sage College and RPI. In addition to Beechwood-supplied transportation to appointments, there are two city bus stops for access to all Troy has to offer. The Eddy Memorial campus offers easy walking and enjoyment of lovely gardens - from shade gardens to flower terraces. During the Covid period, staff kept us virus-free, by following enhanced sanitizing protocols, ensuring that we were informed concerning risk management, and organizing an on-site clinic for Covid vaccinations. Moving to Beechwood was the best decision we could make. We have independence, congenial neighbors, access to so much in Troy & the surrounding Capital region. Yet we are free from property maintenance. We have freedom to pursue travel and other interests in retirement.

As a smaller community, Beechwood is cozy and homelike. I feel safe and know there is help if needed. I am content here.

From the moment I moved in I felt welcomed and at home Residents came forward, introduced themselves and said “We’ve been wait for you”. Yes they had, as I waited awhile for the specific apartment I had selected. Then it was customized and updated to my wishes. It is beautiful. I was invited to attend various committees and finally decided on one that spiked my interest and one that I knew I could add my experiences to. I moved in during Covid restrictions, but even with that I was able to meet residents and become familiar with daily procedures. I love going to the Dining Room and sitting at specific tables with other residents. I have met many people and I always bring a glass of wine ??to enjoy with my meal. The ability to sign up for events and visits to local theatres and restaurants is greatly appreciated, especially having transportation provided.

My tour at Beechwood at Eddy Memorial was very good. All of the communities that I looked at were pretty similar in that they were all good places, with nothing of real concern at any of them. In the end it came down to floorplan of the apartments and accessibility to communal areas. And we chose a different community that met our preferences in those areas a little better.
I have been a resident of Eddy Beechwood for five Months. From my first Day I have felt the warmth and consideration for my well being from both residents and staff alike. I must also praise the food preparation and dinning service.

I have nothing but praise for the Beechwood. I really enjoy my apartment. The staff is amazing. Before covid we were really engaged in the community. The staff does its best to get us through this very difficult time. I am glad I'm here. Its my home. I love living in Troy. It's the second community I have lived in and I really like it best.

We moved to Beechwood over 5 years ago, and couldn’t be happier. Beechwood has the advantage of its urban context: walking distance to bank, pharmacy, RPI amenities (such as the professional track for walking and beautiful gardens on the interior of the campus to enjoy). Close to other terrific amenities such as the Troy Waterfront Farmers’s Market, Troy Music Hall, the Arts Center of the Capital Region, wonderful small restaurants, fabulous architecture to enjoy in many of Troy’s neighborhoods. We’re also proximate to regional cultural venues, including SPAC, Clark Art Institute, Bennington, Manchester, Cooperstown. No car? A quick bus ride to Albany delivers one to the Albany Institute, the New York State Museum, theater, and even more fine dining. Staff take a personal interest in each resident. They’re ever helpful and creative. Beechwood is a small community, and that intimacy fosters many new friendships among people who care very much about each other. Exceptional senior living, indeed!

The community is small and we are all close. It takes the daily worries away! The staff is accommodating to our needs as residents. It's just so important not to be alone and at Beechwood we are not. Its comforting to have neighbors and a staff that checks in on us!
