My husband has dementia. The staff has allowed him to engage in activities with others, because he’s a people person. They play music and take walks outside. He seems happy there. The facility is very nice and clean.... Read more

I thought for the most part The Social was really great. The area it is in is great, the staff to patient ratio was good since it was a smaller community, and the activities director was good at encouraging my mom to participate. The staff members here were always friendly and helpful as well. The only issue we had was towards the end, we did have some problems with communication and no one offered any condolences or next steps except for one of her nurses, so that was disappointing to us.

February 25, 2021We appreciate the rave review! - The Social at Cotswold Team
When our loved one is able to go into the dining room she is very happy with the meals, and the activities are great. The community sends emails updating the families regarding covid and they post calendars on the back of the residents doors showing the activities.

Response from Charter Senior Living of Charlotte
February 25, 2021We do our best each and every day to make sure our residents are as happy and healthy as can be, and we're glad you're loved one is having a great experience! Thanks so much for the review. - The Social at Cotswold Team
We chose The Social at Cotswold because we liked when we did the virtual tour and we liked what they had to offer. Also the sales person was really good. My dads room is pretty big, it is a nice size for one person he is in a private one bedroom. We recently have had a lot of issues with the business office, I think they need to improve on their communication.

I have been very happy with the response to covid-19 outbreak that the facility has taken. I feel my mom is kept safe. There have been times I was concerned and these were addressed immediately. Thank you for your continued care.

When our loved one first moved into this community there was a group of people that ran the place that were very nice and very friendly. After a while things had changed, they changed the president and hired temporary staff members so everyone our loved one knew had left. Our loved one never recognized anyone because they were agency workers and every day it was a new individual she wouldn’t recognize. There was not a cleaning schedule or an actual schedule whatsoever. Sometimes it would take two weeks for her sheets to get cleaned, and sometimes she had to do them herself and still go find help. They ran out of her medicine more than once, and our loved one is highly allergic to certain laundry detergent so we supplied her with her own detergent and labeled it with her name. We also asked that her clothes get washed separately. However, when they would do her laundry they would return it with other residents clothing items, and one time they had completely lost her clothes and they were never able to find them. Another thing that really worried us, was one night we were bringing our loved one back to the community before it closed, we took her up to the third floor where her room was and there was another resident screaming running down the halls looking for help because her loved one had just fallen. We looked all over for the care givers that should have been on the third floor and we found them outside having a smoke break. Another thing that annoyed us, was when COVID hit they had shut down everything and we had to solely rely on them for everything and we would get calls from our loved one all the time saying no one has come to check on her or even help her shower. We could call and leave messaged, and never receive a call back. There was really no interaction between the residents and staff members, the only interaction there was, was when they would bring them their three meals and medicine for the day. Our loved one always ate her food on her stand by the TV, and the staff member that brought the food that day set it on the countertop, and our loved one had to walk over without her walker to get the tray which resulted in her falling and hitting her head. The staff called to let us know, that she had fallen and was put back into bed. We called back the next day to get an update and we were told she had fallen again and wasn’t acting herself. She was taken to the hospital and the doctor realized she had a stroke and a broken pelvic bone is two places. The communication was just severely lacking at this community

I was searching for options for my mom while she was in the hospital and I had very limited time to make a decision. I looked at 6 places and The Social was in my top two. I had heard good things about the community through word of mouth. I know they had recently changed management. They had a really nice fish tank. I was looking at shared rooms for my mom and the unit they had I felt was much too small to be shared by two people and only had one closet.

The woman that gave us the tour was very knowledgeable and friendly. Other staff we spoke with were also very friendly. Everything looked very clean and tidy. Interactions with residents were very positive. We were particularly impressed with the memory unit. It had a very home like feeling. Many details to make residents comfortable and engaged.

Formally a Brookdale property. spoke with [name removed]. Nurse who assessed Dad sent paperwork to corporate for further review. Dad handed nurse a card that he had from Comfort Keepers (inhome service). Hospital nurses said his behaviors were not controlled. She told me to make sure that court yards were internal... he might try to escape by climbing the fence. Has sent patients for a psychiatric facility in SC. She will call me with the name.
