I was happy with the layout and upkeep of the facility and my mom had friends. We felt she was safe there. I wanted to see some improvements in the meal service, the quality of the food and the lack of attention in the dining room to take the meal order or even refill a drink, and felt they could improve with the level of care noticing when someone doesn't feel well and taking meals in their room they should ask questions and take initiative to check for UTI or COVID or check their BP, etc. Instead I or my sister always has to prompt them to order a test or have the PA schedule to see mom.... My loved one is a resident at Waltonwood. The move in process was organized and perfectly laid out. The food is delicious, I have eaten there myself and I am quite picky. Delicious food! The staff seems like they genuinely care about all of the residents and really want to be there. They are wonderful people! We are so happy.

My mom generally gets good care in the memory unit at Waltonwood Cotswold. There’s not too much turnover in the direct caregiver staff, and the care manager is reasonably responsive when we have a question or concern. However, when my mom has a health concern, she almost always ends up in the hospital, usually for far longer than she needs to be. Her actual health care may take two to three days, but she stays in the hospital for a week or more because it takes WW so long to get her meds, oxygen, etc. ordered and delivered, and they cannot do any of that over a weekend, or indeed, after 4:00 pm on a Friday. I am constantly hearing about what they cannot do for her, since they don’t provide anything that is considered skilled care. You don’t always get what you pay (royally) for.

Our family had an in person tour and the tour experience was so nice but it was the most expensive community we looked out. We did feel though right when we walked in we would get the full red carpet treatment, the staff were super friendly and receptive and overall it is just a beautiful facility.
The Waltonwood Cotswold facility was definitely the most aesthetically pleased out of all of the places that I toured. It is upscale and very nice. My impression was that it is a stand alone facility so it is not part of a network. It seemed like a great place to have a loved one.
Waltonwood Cotswold was excellent from what I could see. The facility was very clean. The staff was very friendly. It seemed like they had very good activities. And the location was great - it was in a very nice wooded area.
Our families first impression of Waltonwood was that it had a homey atmosphere to it, it did not feel like a nursing home at all. Our loved ones apartment is pretty spacious, and there are different room size options you can choose from.

I would recommend the community to others for their loved ones. The friendliness of staff, responsiveness to requests from the family are all stand outs to me about the community. My loved one thinks the meals are fantastic. The dining room has been reopened.

The initial assessment was way off and my loved one needs more care than we thought and as a result, she was physical removed from the community by the police and we left to figure things out. If your loved one is only "pleasantly confused" according to the community then this may work for you.

Our first impression of Waltonwood was it was kept very clean and the people there were so very friendly. We relaly liked that it had a 24/7 concierge service, we felt that we could call anytime during the day and someone would answer. We are from out of town and this community is very accessible. It is an excellent place, they have taken extra precautions during COVID. We are able to face time her to check in, but we know she is being well taken care of. All the care services are excellent. The food is like restaurant style, it is very good quality. Due to COVID this residents are eating in their rooms. Before COVID they have plenty of activities to offer, sometimes they would take day trips, and the community would bring in live entertainment. There was also movie night. This community had physical, occupational, and speech therapy.

We chose Waltonwood Cotswold because it was very family oriented and people were happy and comfortable. It is a smaller community so there is more interaction between the residents. The room sizes seem just fine foe what my sister needs. I would absolutely recommend the community.

After an extensive and exhaustive tour of Charlotte Area assisted living facilities, we found WaltonWood at Cotswold the ideal place for my aging mother. The entire facility is spotless, roomy, and void of ANY whiff of "nursing home smell". The staff are genuinely engaged, friendly, and caring. Security and accommodations for Memory Care patients/residents are superior! I have no worries whatsoever for my mother's well being while she is here, which I would imagine would be the rest of her life. As far as I am concerned, this is one of Charlotte's hidden gems in the senior living communities here.

Waltonwood Cotswold's assisted living model is exceptional as each resident is a beneficiary of all amenities. While many facilities just check a box, Waltonwood goes to great lengths to deliver exceptional service, clearly taking pride in their work. Such pride is reflected from food service and events to the security that includes a concierge greeting each entry and visitor, ensuring registrations in and out of the building, as well as enumerable facilitations and confirmations of its residents. At the crossroads of compassionate and professional care, residents quickly feel 'at home'. No matter what is promised in a brochure, the intersection of values and benefits ultimately depends upon deliverables. The surprise is that the deliverables have exceeded my expectations; the oversight/administration has a close and seamless communication amongst associates. It's a 'no excuse' atmosphere, each employee taking ownership of Waltonwood's reputation. Everyone is on the same page, never having to ramp up or refer to another to pick up the slack. Any question is handled---top to bottom and back---without excuses. The care management, as well as the executive director's office, is front and center, always accessible, with the highest professional approaches. There is good and gentle humor that prevails---appreciation for a 'family' environment includes warm greetings and updates. This is a facility that feels nothing like an institution; the services and staff are consistently at elite levels, genuine interest in each resident is miles away from affectation. The smiles and enthusiasm of everyone tells the story. Moreover, the respect given to residents is a key ingredient to the residents. No one is patronized; opinion/s and choices are always sought. Ensuring this sense of relevancy, the employee community is vibrant and engaged with each resident. While I expect cleanliness, I was very happy to see that there is a constant check in for various jobs all through the day and in the evening. Having experienced spreadsheets of activities--- nicely printed out on paper without followthrough--- at former facilities, I am delighted that the spectrum of events runs a long and wide gamut of interests. Is my father in the room? Nope. He's at the ballet, a concert, a shopping trip, at the museum...or, at happy hour sipping wine. If my father has forgotten a particular activity, someone is there to remind him and escort him to there if he so chooses. If not, someone is there to assist a different trajectory, if requested. Small things count: there's the wisdom to help a resident choose the appropriate clothes for the destination. Speaking of which----finally, there's a great laundry service!!! Choices in life are so key to the elderly---Waltonwood Cotswold has clearly made a decision to be exceptional in this way. Movies in a beautiful movie theatre feature the kind of films that can serve an entire visiting family. There are picnic opportunities within the exterior courtyard. Exercise classes are filled; the library and game rooms make for wonderful gatherings, formalized or as a family setting. Sans excuses or with the need to 'oversell' or compare, Waltonwood's costs are in keeping with exceptional staffing, oversight and facilitation. Having done some serious due diligence, I can say that there is no Assisted Living facility anywhere close to Waltonwood Cotswold. For our family, it's been a gift. I know this each time my father smiles and laughs. "I love it here," is a common refrain.H

I like the interaction with the residents and the staff. The facility was well thought out and the staff appeared to genuinely care. It is on the higher $ side, but you are paying for the zip code. I am not yet convinced that would be important factor for Alzheimer's care.

A Place for Mom has scored Waltonwood Cotswold 8.2 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
