My mom died In November. Our experience with Brighton Gardens was horrific. They were negligent, made promises that were not kept, and their staff constantly complained about being short staffed. This included the med techs saying they could not carry out directions/prescription from Hospice with the result of her needlessly suffering in her last weeks of life! It was a traumatizing experience. I so regret choosing that place and I fear I will feel that regret for the rest of my life! The facility is old. Cosmetic updates paint and art work give a good impression but the resident hallways stink and the carpets need to be replaced. Their care was negligent even after multiple meetings and promises. The staff often complained about being understaffed and unable to provide quality care.

In the short time my father has been a resident there has been a lot of turn over of staff including management. Care was awful in the beginning. . Sales pitch says that call bells are answered in 10 minutes but in reality it took them over an hour several times to respond to my father's call bell. It has improved since I reached out to the corporate office to discuss my complaints which were several.

It was a pleasant community for the 9 months my mother-law-lived there. The staff were caring and compassionate in the memory care unit.

There are not enough words to describe the anger and frustration we've felt since my mother and father moved there 3 years. From not being taken out of bed all day, to not having my dad's diaper changed within the 3 hours since ringing his buzzer. Not being showered in 3 weeks because he didn't smell! The list goes on and on and we've been bringing all these issues to the Manger who tells us this is unacceptable and will be addressed until it happens again.

They are able to provide care for residents who are more impaired. The other facilities could not manage the falls and could not provide the level of care that my dad needed. And he won't have to move again. Communication needs to improve.

I would recommend Brighton Gardens of Charlotte to others. I myself have not tried the food, but my loved one feels that it needs improvement. But his opinion may be because they are not offering items that he likes. The Director, [name removed], does really care and is great about keeping the resident's families updated. I have had to reach out to management once or twice to ask questions, but they have always responded to me in both a professional and timely way.

My loved one and family had a good experience with Brighton Gardens of Charlotte. The staff are kind, caring, and helpful. Everyone is friendly. There are meals and activities to assist with the socialization of the residents. We would recommend your loved one and family tour and meet with several communities to find the right fit for your loved one.

The caregiving staff is not what we expected. They have some other staff members that are very helpful such as maintenance, front desk, and more teams. About once a week they were running out of food for the residents, or the chef wouldn't show up. Overall the community seemed to lack staffing. The community wasn't wheelchair friendly such as in the bathrooms, such as the shower, and wheeling up to the sink. The mailboxes were set up high due to the community being a former hotel, and not accessible for those that are in a wheelchair. There were times that my loved one wasn't being showered the day the community had promised, provide clean sheets, or keep my loved one's laundry clean. Other times the staff wouldn't respond to the call button requests from the residents in a timely manner. Overall the caregivers didn't provide the care that the community had promised the family. The caregiving staff to resident ratio is around 8 residents per 1 staff member. However, the caregivers also have to assist with meal service and laundry. There are some processing procedures that could use improvement to assist with resident care. It is very difficult to get ahold of the nurse due to the lack of internal communication between the caregivers to the nurse. The residents would sit at the front desk to wait for the nurse to let the nurse know what they needed directly, or the family would find the nurse and let the nurse know what our loved one needed. I know that the director that is in charge now has made some changes, such as moving laundry to be handled by the night staff. I would recommend the community for residents that are more mobile, or a couple to be able to check on each other. The community was good at fulfilling their promise to check on my loved one every 2 hours, including during the night. I was very happy with A Place for Mom, and I would use their service again!

They provide excellent care. They are pretty good about updating family about concerns or comments. They were the only community that could accomodate all of the various health needs that my loved ones have.

If they would actually follow the plan of care, we would have felt like we could have allowed her stay at the facility. We put our mother in the facility and took her home a month later. Her hearing aids were almost never charged and usually left out of her ears. She almost never smelled clean. Food was on a menu, but very often was not available. Many of the care managers were contract employees. The care plan was not followed. Dirty gloves were left laying around the room, and once a bloody bandage. My wife was at the facility every day and most days she went twice to make sure she was given proper care. She often ended up washing her or shampooing her hair. At least 3 times no one took her to a meal. She fell out of bed 4 times.

My loved one was here quite a while and it started out very well. Towards the end they wanted to increase the level of care which had a big price tag on it. When meeting with them about why it was increasing I was not pleased with the way that it was handled. The manager did say that they were going to be changing that policy but I am not sure if that has happened.

Our loved one always tells us how comfortable she is at Brighton Gardens and how well taken care of she is and how safe she feels. The meals and dining service could be a little better improved when it comes to the dining staff and their overall communication. Sometimes communication gets lost between staff and residents when it comes to the meals they like and do not like. It is very very expensive, but for our loved one to feel safe and well taken care of it is worth every penny.

The Brighton Gardens staff accommodated me even though I was there at a time that they were not expecting me. They were flexible and each of the staff members showed me around and took their time without acting put off. I was very impressed by how professional they were. The reason we did not choose this facility was just due to the set up of the room. I would not hesitate recommending this facility to others based off of what I saw.

If you have a friend or family member that needs assisted living I for sure recommend this place for your loved one. They are very caring, and if you have someone that needs more care than normal they are not quite there yet and would have to supplement it. They have nurses on staff but it is not like a skilled nursing facility.

Brighton Gardens of Charlotte was an older facility. The thing that immediately turned me off was it had a big staircase as soon as you came in. And all I could think of was my loved ones falling down the stairs. . .
