I have been a resident (independent) for 17 1/12 years. The community is just the right size (# of residents). The staff is welcoming and friendly, although I do not need care services, it's important to know it 's available. A resident can be as involved in the community as they whish to be. I Recommend MW!

Seacrest Retirement Center in West Haven, CT
4.0

After visiting many "retirement homes", Seacrest definitely feels more homey than all of the other more institution style residencies. It's beautiful water view setting adds tremendously to its value as well as a strong sense of family amongst its attendants and workers and residents. Our unannounced visits are always met with an orderly, controlled environment, filling every need of the residents. I would definitely recommend Seacrest to anyone looking for that special place.

Complete guide to independent living

North Haven, Connecticut

Independent Living

For many seniors, cost of owning a home might be a deterrent to an independent life. Independent Living Communities offer a great remedy. Daily needs such as housekeeping and meal planning are taken care of, which permits occupants more free time to live their lives as they see fit. Along with their daily needs being met, residents can enjoy the opportunity to be among peers, surrounded by others of similar age groups and backgrounds. Typically comprised of a private living area and a full kitchen, these communities offer homes with many of the amenities of apartment life but without the hassle. Guests can be invited over and entertained, and more time can be spent with them with the basic maintenance of daily tasks out of the way. While policies differ between locations, numerous residences allow cats and dogs as well. If medical or nursing care is desired, residents may always utilize the services of independent caregivers. There are an assortment of advantages and costs to balance when selecting an independent living community. It is important to learn if these amenities are covered in the plan: internet access, Waiting list deposit, wellness program, parking, move-in fee, private phone, meals, and initial assessment fee. The luxuries associated with independent living include beauty salon & barber shop, laundry service, security guards, healthcare center, private rental hall, restaurant-style dining hall, concierge services, and transportation.
