The building of Sodalis got a 4 for cleanliness, but 2 for their room. I don't want to give Sodalis a poor rating overall for cleanliness. They just have room to improve in several areas to be top rated in my opinion. Especially for price. They empty trash but that's it. We do all housekeeping for my parents apartment. Including scrubbing bathrooms, changing sheets, vacuuming, mopping floor, and dusting. I give mediocre score for worth money, because of housekeeping of their rooms, and quality of food. As well as no weekly bathing schedule for mom. Regarding food, possible ideas. More healthy options with fruits and vegetables. Salads more varied. Sodalis needs to have housekeeping records outside the door when she comes and what she cleans. My mom is fairly independent but can do no housekeeping, changing sheets, etc. they never offer to do that in their room. She won't ask. They never encourage and help mom take a shower. She needs assistance with shower weekly. No saying " do you want to bathe?" I would like to have her shower once a week routinely. Cleaning of room at least once a week and charted what they did and when they did it posted outside the door or somewhere. It appears never done.

My mother has Alzheimer's/Dementia and, due to malnutrition and not eating, she was placed under the care of another facility. The Director, [name removed], informed me on a Thursday that since my mother didn't allow the nurse to complete her assessment, he recommended she be placed in a temporary personal home. He referred me to his contact, who provided a highly-rated personal home. However, after my mother was evaluated by the caregiver at the home, it was clear they couldn't handle the level of care she needed. I didn't realize that all parties were collaborating closely. When I contacted [name removed] the following week to ask about re-evaluating my mother, he reached out to the referral, who then reported that my mother was too aggressive after only four days in the new setting. DO NOT rely on [name removed] suggested referral service. Find your own referral service, unconnected to them. Bad business.
Read MoreI relocated my mother 13 months from a home in Florida to Texas so my family could be closer to her. I live in New Braunfels but chose Sodalis at Stone Oak to be her new home. The drive is 35 minutes and I pass multiple facilities on the way. Sodalis was the perfect place for me due to the size, scope of offerings as well as the level of care. What I didn't know then was just how wonderful the care for mom would be. They all seem to know and love her which I love. Their communication has been wonderful from start to finish. We email or text with concerns or needs which is great for busy people on the go. I cannot recommend this place enough.

The place was very efficient and well run. The resident Staff was great. The Admin/Leadership staff that I dealt with was very business focused. They were kind of sterile and not super friendly.

Sodalis at stone oak was very nice. Had a wait list. No smell, however the memory care unit was very open but felt he could get turned around easily and get confused if where is room was. But they had a very nice outside area that we liked too. The representative was very distracted and jumped around a lot.
They need more balanced meals with more green and fresh vegetables. The food is the biggest complaint from my parents. They enjoy staff, but have noticed at times they have been very short staffed.

They need to offer a better quality of food and the amount of food offered was a small portion. The nurses were always friendly and other staff members were not as friendly. My advice to other families is to, be cautious about putting a loved one here. Overall, it's a smaller community and it's okay.

It has been a good experince. It's a nice place, and my loved one is pretty content. I picked this community because of the cleanliness, it's smaller in size and close to home.

Our family had an in person tour and it was a great tour experience - the person who gave the tour was super nice
Response from Sodalis Stone Oak
July 6, 2022We are so happy to read such a great review about Sodalis Senior Living!
The every-day caretakers I was very impressed with. The senior administration was heavily money-focused. I found the initial onboarding to be a frustrating experience. Overall I would recommend Sodalis-Stone Oak to other families.

Response from Sodalis Stone Oak
August 22, 2022We are so happy to hear that you had a positive experience with Sodalis! Thank you for taking the time to leave a review.
Our family had an in person tour and the tour was very good, assisted living is on one side and memory care is on the other side. It was closest in location for us, however our loved one is still very active and we just felt since the two sides were separated there was not a lot of space for her to get out and walk around compared to other places we saw. The staff members were super nice.

August 22, 2022We are so happy to hear that you had a positive experience with Sodalis! Thank you for taking the time to leave a review.
Our family had an in person tour and it is a very nice facility, but it did need a little more cleanliness to it. There was a faint smell and it was smaller. Also the accommodating and what they had to offer was just not really up to par. r
This community was our second choice. We loved this community it was just to far away from us and our family. We were really sad it wasn't closer. Very helpful and got to talk to the other residents. We also got to meet all of the workers in the community.
We have been extremely happy with our experience with Sodalis-Stone Oak. All of the staff members treat us and mom so well. The environment is great and we really could not be happier. We would recommend to others looking.
The biggest thing was they said if my loved one pushed the call button, they would get there in 3-5 minutes. It's been more like 15-30 minutes. So I kind of feel like they weren't honest on the front end about how much assistance he would get and oversold their services to get us in. But he loves it there. He likes the staff and the other residents. He's made some friends. He likes that he has a private room that offers him privacy when he feels like being by himself. The staff try to get him to participate, but he hasn't participated much in the activities. He has tried a few things. Sometimes I wish he would do more, but I know in the end that's up to him. Everything is always clean, including his room and his bathroom. They do his laundry twice a week. They come and make his bed every day so it's ready for him at bedtime, which is nice. The common areas are very nice. The hallways are vacuumed. I haven't seen any dust or noticed any smells. It's just very clean.

I was very happy that they brought us in and showed us the place. It looked very similar to another place our loved one had lived in previously in a different area. What I didn’t like is there’s so much traffic in to get to Symphony, especially on 281, and I didn't want to have to deal with that traffic every time I went to see her. Also, it's a much bigger place, and I think having a smaller place for her is best since she has dementia. I didn't have a problem with them at all. It was clean, and friendly, and available. The gentleman who took us around knew all the residents and was very informative. It just came down to the traffic for us, which may not be an issue for everybody.
Read MoreThe community has both assisted living and memory care. They have been working with her and she has not had to go to memory yet. Communication is good between the staff and my family. They keep us well informed and return calls back in a timely manner. I would recommend this community to others.

RUN as fast as you can from Sodalis.. Greed is the name of the game with lack of activities, staff, procedures done on the cheap and care. I see 7 positive reviews yet every other person I know who had a parent in here hated it. My dad went in as a 0 and pretty self-sufficient but w/in 4 months was a 4 and sent to memory care with little to no help there. He died a month after that. Within ONE DAY they were asking for payment for the 1 week of a month he spent that month. They harassed my mom will multiple phone calls when learning we would write a poor review. Employees left and in the months and even year after we left, conditions were still bad. Don't let the tour and pretty facility fool you, parents will NOT flourish here but instead leave you wondering how you could have made such a bad decision. Some of us still keep in touch and work through the guilt of choosing this place. It's a sham, they are all about the dollar and are NOT honest about costs, I promise you that.

I am so thankful I moved my mom from and independent living facility to Sodalis Stone Oak about a month before the lockdown of assisted living centers. It has been a great comfort to have her in a caring facitlity that can help her with all her needs, keep her in a safer enviroment and let her be with her best friend. I can reach the nursing staff at anytime. The communication between the facility manager & the health and wellness director to the families is frequent and I can reach them quickly with my own questions and concerns. I have counted on the opinion of the wellness director on many occassions. [names removed] see my mom daily and know my mom's state of physical health and mental state in dealing with daily life. They have a helpful perspective and understanding since they have so much experince with senior citizens. Since my mom's dementia is progressing I can not count on complete or accurate information from her. They do their best to try and keep it fun and interesting for their community, Fiesta drive by, hat and boa day, arts and crafts, puzzles out all the time, bingo. Before the lockdown they had musicians, singers, and other entertainers. So much more than I could ever do at home with just us and a caregiver. My mom has a sense of independence, even though she could never live alone again. She loves not having to worry about meals, can go sit on a lovely patio but not have to care for the yard or plants, she has her own large private room and bath (no kitchen to burn anything up) with her own bedroom furniture and sitting area that someone else cleans for her weekly. She loves it! Tells me all the time I need to move there when I get old! Sodalis is my partner in taking care of my 89 year old mom, I could not do it without them!
