Brookdale Mandarin has been a wonderful place for my mom. The staff have been working hard on making improvements to be even better! We chose this facility initially because of the price for basic living , the large one bedroom option and Medicaid is accepted for the health care portion.... Read more

This community is in it for the money. When my mom left there, after only a month they continued to charge us even though she was not there. When we toured the facility the rooms they showed were strictly for show and not the ones we could move into. The bright spot was the medical staff they were excellent. I would not recommend this facility unless money doesn't matter

My mom moved in around the first of February right before COVID, and we have had a lot of mixed emotions. The communication is not great, we have left numerous voicemails and received no response. With the lack of communication we don't know if she is getting her two baths a week, and when we call to get an answer, the staff doesn't know. We constantly feel the need to reach out and get clarification on things. My mom however likes the place and likes the people, the staff is always visiting her. She is complaining that the community has roaches at the moment, Some of the staff members have been very friendly with us and some have been very abrupt, but most of the time they are pretty nice. They do have rosary for the residents, as well as bingo. But at the moment my mom doesn't really participant in the activities In the beginning my mother hated the food, but it has made drastic improvements. She enjoyed the food more when she was able to eat it in the dining room, but because of COVID the staff is bringing the residents food to their rooms three times a day. She has a very nice apartment, it was completely redone, her furniture fit in their nicely.

My sister was starting to decline right before COVID hit, we didn't receive any communication from the staff, we heard from the residents that they themselves were having to wash her and clean her up daily. The communication between the staff, the residents and family was lacking. We didn't think the food was that bad, it was average. The only thing that we had a problem with is that Brookdale charged families $15 dollars for each person, if they wanted to dine with their family members. The layout of the community was pretty good, as well as the rooms provided.

We chose this community because of the proximity from the rooms to the dining room. My parents do not have to go outside to get to other parts of the facility. The food is good, right now they get two choices, but before COVID, there was more variety. The room sizes are good, my parents have a 2 bed 2 bath. My favorite part about the community is the nursing staff and care. They come right away if something physical happens. A downfall is I have made numerous phone calls at different times of the day on different days and never get a call back.

Brookdale Mandarin is an excellent community. I was originally looking for a one story building, Brookdale is a 4 story building but to me the cost more than made up for my layout preference.. The staff is very cooperative in helping both me and my dad.. My dad’s lawyer also commented to me that she thought Brookdale was a great choice as well. They are very professional.

Current resident. This facility is very clean and the staff is helpful and respectful. A nice place to make the transition from a home to independent apartment living. Most of the residents are independent.

[name removed] was extremely nice and professional. Overall the facility seemed great and probably within our price range. The rooms were amazing. There was renovations going on so it was hard to gauge what the facility looks like normally. Overall, my top choice so far.

I had a pleasant tour of this community. The community looked good, and everything was nice, and clean. The staff was kind, and helpful. They were also informative, and my questions were answered. The experience went well, but I didn't feel this was the community for my father.

This community is outstanding. I am happy that my father does like it here. The meals need to improve in the areas of getting the meals out when they are warm. They have a lot of nice activities for him to participate. The other residents seem to be happy here. We would recommend this community for the care and value for a loved one.

My brother at the moment is recovering, but we are hoping once he gets better he can return back to this community. This is a good community, and he really enjoyed his time at this community. The staff is really nice, we were comfortable with his move to this community. It is a well maintained community. They did a good job taking care of him, and his needs. This is a community I would recommend.

My wife was in this community for about 6 months and it was a good experience. They did a good job all around. The food was quite good and everyone was very helpful. My wife got along with everyone and we chose this community because it is small and on one level.

This community seemed to be nice. The people were very helpful and friendly to us. The only issue that I saw might be a problem for mom was that the community looked like a campus. Mom may get lost trying to find her way around.

My mother has really felt comfortable and right at home since making the move into her new living environment. She loves how relaxing the evenings are at this facility. After dinner the residents will go down stairs and listen to soothing music and maybe play a few card games before bed. The only complaint my mother has had is the wait time to get your food. It can take up too sometimes two hours before she begins too eat after sitting down for dinner.

My loved one has been struggling with the transition, but at least I can say that the staff has been really helpful about making sure they help through this process. I did have a few problems with the apartment, but they were able to get it together. She does like the meals.

Lost power during hurricane, but generator didn't work. Lied to family members calling in to check on loved ones by saying they "had always had power", but I was there! Elderly people sweating, only out of their rooms if they could get down the dark stairs that didn't have emergency light. Elevators didn't work. This went on for 12-14 hours! Medications given to loved one when they were not supposed to get those medications anymore. Some staff nice, other staff very rude. Please, find another facility for your loved one!

They seem like they are trying, however communication is poor at best. It seems like everything that we have asked them to do takes forever to get done. Some staff members are much more caring then others. If things do not rapidly improve we will be moving my mom. The cost is much less then most others, but you do get what you pay for. Sometimes paying a bit more is well worth it!

The staff at Brookdale Mandarin are attentive, very nice and patient. The staff was one of the reasons we chose this community. I have tried the food and it is good. The community is clean and well taken care of. Mom is still settling in but has participated in a few of the activities. I would recommend this community.
