My loved one was previously a resident at Brookdale Mandarin and the overall experience was very good. The friendliness was great. The staff and care services were good. The meals were okay. Due to the cost, we ended up having to move my loved one to a different facility.

We toured Brookdale Mandarin during our search for an Assisted Living facility for my loved one. This facility was a definite no go for us. The facility is very old and it felt very institutional. I would rate it at a two, at most. We decided to continue on with our search.

The wait time for some one to come is well over 5 minutes - the staff is not helpful - the facility is in need of extensive maintenance - water was out for almost a week - COVID outbreak caused staff to leave food outside of rooms when they remembered to bring food - at one point someone told my father in law to call my wife and have her come to the facility to give him his medicine - they didn't even bother to bath him for almost a week when his shower head broke - I would not recommend this facility at all - very sad

I liked the community very much. It was a bit more expensive based on my loved one's income. If all things were equal, I would have considered it as the location is much better for me.
The food service was horrible, not healthy, not appetizing, running out of menu items even hamburger buns, no cottage cheese with fruit plate, wait time to/ from the dining room, elevators not working& incorrect billing after move out. There was no communication. I could never talk with dinning manager. They always said she wasn't available . Never saw the administrator once!!! Never in the building best I could tell. I moved her to my house because of all of this!!! The biggie...her door kept locking & so they stuffed toilet paper in the lock receptacle!!!! Can you believe this so she could never lock her door at night or anytime.
