For many seniors, cost of owning a home might be a deterrent to living an independent life. Independent Living Communities provide a great alternative to this situation. Daily needs such as the scheduling of social activities and housekeeping are accounted for, which permits occupants more free time to live their lives as they see fit. Along with their daily needs being met, residents can enjoy the opportunity to be among peers, surrounded by others of similar ages and backgrounds. Residents’ quarters consist of a private living space with their own kitchen. The independence of apartment life is still enjoyed, offering an opportunity to socialize with guests and visitors in a private and personal setting. While policies vary between locations, many residences allow pets as well. If medical or nursing assistance is desired, residents may always enlist the services of private health care professionalls. There are a variety of benefits and expenditures to consider while selecting an independent living community. It is important to determine if these services are included in the care plan: wellness program, field trips, meals, initial assessment fee, private phone, Waiting list deposit, utilities, and internet access. The benefits and amenities that pertain to independent living include beauty salon & barber shop, transportation, laundry service, restaurant-style dining hall, security guards, golf course, concierge services, and fitness center & swimming pool.
