I like the kindness and courtesy of the staff and the management. Theater place is clean, and kept clean, light and calm colors with great artwork. My only regret is that my sister did not come to Terraces first and that we spent too much of her retirement savings in another facility first. She was not equipped to live independently in an apartment on her own. I wish I had known about the Terraces at Capitol Village because I would have moved her there initially.... Read more

DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONE HERE UNTIL THEIR PENDANT SYSTEM WORKS!!! Don’t be fooled by the fancy new dining room, or the updated entryway – when your loved one’s pendant doesn’t work in an emergency, what do those things matter? My mom lived here from [dates removed] when we moved her out. Things were fine until she fell in May, and sat on the floor for an hour, then called me and asked me to call the facility and tell them she was on the floor. The med tech who responded said her pendant was flashing, but nothing was showing on her end. She started having frequent falls after she had pneumonia, the last one ending in an exposed skull and brain bleed. Exec Dir [name removed] and former Dir of Nursing [name removed] told us she didn’t have a brain bleed - my brother advised them 2 neurosurgeons said that was exactly what she had. The Exec Dir told us the calls go from pendant to computer fine, but the computer isn’t always sending the calls to the aides pagers. VERY UNSAFE!!

I lived in another community, then needed some rehab. I had a terrible experience where I was before. So coming here I was scared. It has been the very best thing that has ever happened. I am respected and cared for very well. Just wonderful!

My mother says the staff takes good care of her and that they are very nice, but sometimes she has to wait quite a while to get the attention she needs. The common areas appear to be pretty clean, but I've noticed that her personal space is often dirty. I have been told they do not clean very often. My mother enjoys some of the activities, but due to mobility issues with her hand, she cannot participate with many of the arts and crafts. She especially enjoys the exercise classes. Her biggest complaint is the food, which she says is "horrible". She often avoids the dining room and eats in her room because she simply does not like the food provided.

My family member loves this place. the way she talks about the staff and all the people - they make it feel like home. What a relief for all of us to know that there is peace of mind. We hear about the caregivers, the food, and she tells when to come around all the programs going on.

I came to the community about 2 years ago for a respite stay after rehab. They helped me get stronger and even walking which no one thought I would be able to do. I owe a lot of that to the caregivers who really helped push me to do a little more each day. I was able to go home and I was able to be home for almost a full year before I had another health problem which ultimately decided it was time to live in assisted living. I did try another place simply because of cost. I found out really quickly that wasn’t the place for me and I chose to come back here for the long term. The care is great and the activities are very engaging, they always include me and make me feel really good about what I am able to still do. My body doesn’t work like it use to but, that doesn’t stop me from being involved. If it wasn’t for the caregivers and activities staff I wouldn’t be able to lead a pretty normal life. I can’t thank them enough for allowing me to be me!

The staff is very friendly and they keep you busy during the day with activities. The food is not the greatest food has been black or burned and should not be served and there should be on the menu food like pork, ham regular pork products for residents that are non Jewish. Overall I am satisfied

A Place for Mom has scored The Terraces at Capitol Village 9.5 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
