The working staff were very good and caring people, and eager to please. I was very disappointed with the Sales staff and the Health Director. My wife spent two consecutive periods in Respite Care. Her son and I wanted to explore the options of her staying on being as she is no longer able to do household chores being thst she must use a walker to get around. She was and still is, a fall risk and really shouldn't be alone. I am employed by the and Federal government and work 5 days per week. I work from home three days and in our Harrisburg office two days. I repeatedly left phone messages asking for the Salesperson and the Health Director to contact me (or her son) to discuss Care options, but one week prior to her leaving Harmony I finally received a call from [name removed]. They were horrible. The facility is new and so very clean, but due to the issues with his meds sent him to hospital on a couple of occasions. I would not recommend them to anyone. When I visited I found medicine that should have been filled 30 days prior, a blood pressure pill on the floor. We paid for them to handle meds and they did it poorly could have killed him.

Staff was very kind and helpful. Very clean, it looks like a hotel. I would definitely use them again if needed. Just like home, but better.

They do have ad addition of hospice care if needed. Staff is typically very friendly but there does seem to be a good amount of turnover+ seemingly many others leaving Harmony for other facilities giving perceptions of uncertainty for the future.

I would say that this a glorified elder apartment. The move in was horrible--the room wasn't clean, lost paperwork. There is no communication with the families. Turnover is constant. Generally it looks clean, but my mom's apartment doesn't get vacuumed regularly--to the point I think I need to bring in a vacuum. No one empties the fridge and the trash can stays in the room for days. Laundry service is questionable. We have towels, clothing that aren't my mom's. The staff for meals are friendly enough, but they don't take direction like softer, easy to chew foods work better for my mom. They let her choose and then she can't eat it. That said, she's still gaining weight so she's finding something to eat. They seem to base care around a metric, and by care I really mean charges. I've found that even when we met with the staff and explained that she needed reminders to go to activities, they increased her rate, but still don't remind her. Trying to get re-evaluated is at least a 6 month process. Fortunately, she seems to be safe and she has remained healthy (minus the dementia). The process was so traumatic for both my mom and our family, we're terrified to try again. We do plan to bring her back home when socializing doesn't seem to be an added value in her life and she needs real care. Would I recommend? Again, maybe if all the loved one needed was an apartment with 24 hour staff available.

We choose Harmony at Hershey for my mom as it was very close to me and I could easily go to visit. While it has taken my mom a bit of time to get acclimated to the facility it too has taken me some time to get used to it. As a nurse I expect a certain level of care for my parent and am slightly disappointed. While many of the care staff are attentive to my Moms needs there are several that are not. I find myself needing to give “in services”to several staff regarding oxygen therapy, how to encourage my mom to join in on activities among other things . I feel that many of the staff lack education. I find myself leaving notes so that the staff does certain tasks (being sure there is water near where mom is sitting, having her phone within reach of her, having her in the sitting position rather than the reclining position when she eats meals in her room, just to name a few) While it is not the perfect situation for my mom it is the best situation at this time.

Everyone that works there could not be any nicer! My mom does not like the food, but it is hard to please everyone when everyone's taste is different. I would recommend Harmony at Hershey to others looking.

There's a male aide that is very patient & kind to the residents. Staff turn over has happened 3x since we came.My pet peeve is that there's hardly any activities for them to participate in. Their rooms are supposed to be cleaned but I doubt they are .

My parents intended to join the community. They met with the nurse, who was a lovely person, and learned that their level of care would be determined AFTER they moved in. My Dad became very anxious about the uncertainly of the cost. We informed Harmony that they would not proceed with moving there. Harmony did not return any part of the Community fee ($[removed]) because my parents did not give notice within 72 hours (they didn't even meet the nurse within 72 hours!). Communication became difficult with lack of response to text, email or phone. Finally an email was sent stating they would be "released" from the contract and that Harmony would "waive" the community fee if they changed their mind. There is legal and ethical and while they might have been legally within the contract terms they were certainly unethical by deceiving seniors. My parents never moved there so I can't comment on the care provided.

April 25, 2024Hello, We are taking this situation very seriously and have escalated your review to the Harmony leadership team. Please contact us at info@harmonyseniorservices.com with your contact information, so we may reach out to you personally.
After you sign the paperwork, there is really no contact person. No one guiding you through the move in process. I was told there would be an activity or another resident would be my loved one's buddy. Neither happened. Nobody from the facility calls to give updates, no team meetings. It may be great for a family not dealing with a senior with dementia, but for us it's been frustrating. They could work with the family to develop a care plan that makes sense. They could be more transparent as to exactly what their personnel does for our loved one. They could have a contact person that could call with updates/concerns or have an e-mail to communicate things like appointments/visits/new concerns. My loved one has been here for a couple of months and I have yet to have any of my concerns addressed. Currently, I would recommend this facility to someone who only needs Assisted Living.

I'd recommend it because first & foremost I feel it's a safe place. I'm not sure about activities because every time I ask for a schedule they don't have one. I like the FB aspect because you can see the residents & activities. I'd warn them though that the price is higher than others.

June 1, 2023Hello, Thank you for taking the time to review Harmony! The activities calendar is always on our website right here: https://www.harmonyseniorservices.com/senior-living/pa/hershey/east-canal-st/activities-events, just click the level of care and see their planned events. Have a great day!
Before you commit, they promise you the world, and they're so convincing ! Great smoozers ! It would take three weeks sometimes to get the room clean and that's after persistence of asking. If you need to talk to somebody, they're always in a meeting unavailable! Doctors not available! Quality care not there! The food was good and the activities were good! And it ends there! Value for the money zero !

Harmony at Hershey was not the right environment for our loved one, and they did not communicate with us at all. There was not enough staffing and anytime we would reach out with questions or concerns it's like they were running away from you, they didn't want to talk to us. Our loved one needed more care then what she had received. We felt the staff and doctor would not listen to us. However the activity people were absolutely wonderful.

The meals were great at Harmony at Hershey, I ate there with my wife quite a few times to encourage her to eat a full meal. Her room was well kept. [name removed] was super helpful after my wife passed away. I went back and gave almost all of the staff who took care of my wife 40 dollars in a thank you note. The Memory Care goes for half of the price of many other places.

When looking at places, this facility just felt right. What sticks out most about Harmony at Hershey is the care they showed towards my mom before she passed away, I'll never forget that. I would recommend this facility to others.

The facility is very new and very clean. They offer lots of various activities, it will be what the senior makes it. Food ok, seniorlicious; blandish. The staff wonderful except for one front desk clerk. Needs landscaping but very nice interior. The apartments are wonderful and have great amenities.

This is a nice and new community. The staff felt cold during the tour when speaking to them.
We went with Harmony at Hershey mostly because of the convenience of the location and the newness of the facility and how clean it was. It is also very well laid out. What has stuck out most to us is the staff, they are always willing to help out and listen to questions and concerns. I would definitely recommend them other families looking.

Harmony is a newer community so they are working out some kinks and getting their feet under them, but this has been the perfect place for our mother. The reason we chose this community was because our loved one could have her own apartment in memory care. She has her own bedroom, bathroom and a very nice living room. The meals and dining service is good, and we do know they have a lot of activities like bingo, arts an crafts and exercise classes. The staff are great and are really trying their best given the difficult circumstance.
