My mom received exceptional care. I highly recommend the facility. We picked this community because it was the only one in the area.

Trustwell Living at Astor Place in Astoria, OR
5.0

Good provides nutrition, prepared to please a large group, meals are good. Our staff is exceptionally kind, thoughtful, gentle, caring, attentive. Our house is neat and clean. There is an atmosphere of "family" here that is rarely (if ever) found.

Delaware Plaza in Longview, WA
3.7

In general our experience has been positive. The residents in the community still need an outside advocate to follow up on their requests. The staff communication has been responsive to the family if we have questions or concerns. There are some concerns with the delivery of meals due to the lack of staff. There are times the items aren't what the community says they are going to have for meals. The residents do have choices in addition to the special of the day. There are three meals a day served to the residents here.

Complete guide to independent living

Seaside, Oregon

Independent Living

Many seniors may be capable of living without assistance, but cost of owning a home and the upkeep of the property might be a deterrent to living an independent lifestyle. Independent Living Communities provide a convenient alternative. Basic tasks such as meal planning and housekeeping are handled by staff and a calendar of recreational and leisure activities is maintained, allowing residents the autonomy to use their time as they choose, free from daily obligations. Along with their daily needs being met, residents can enjoy an opportunity to be among peers, in a community with others of similar age groups and backgrounds. Typically comprised of a private living space and a full kitchen, these communities offer homes with many of the amenities of apartment life but with none of the hassle. Guests can be invited over and entertained, and more time can be spent with them with the basic maintenance of daily tasks out of the way. While policies vary between locations, many residences allow pets as well. Nursing and health care services can always be arranged for with private care providers if desired. There are a number of benefits and costs to consider while determining an independent living community. It is important to figure out if these services are covered in your service plan: initial assessment fee, private phone, wellness program, parking, Waiting list deposit, field trips, laundry, and housekeeping. The amenities that pertain to independent living include transportation, game/TV room, concierge services, laundry service, beauty salon & barber shop, security guards, community activities, and healthcare center.
