I would not recommend Sapphire at the Amber! My grandfather was only there 36 hours and was left in his wheelchair overnight and ended up falling and having to be transported to the hospital! We moved him out of there immediately!! Not a good choice if your loved ones need care and assistance! I believe right after his accident that the head lady was let go. We were very clear on his needs and to find that they left him in his wheelchair and didn't assist him to bed was infuriating and contributed to his confusion and fall.

May 19, 2023I apologize for your father's experience during his time at The Amber. We do strive to meet the needs of all residents in our care, and I am sorry we fell short with your dad. While I am not sure of the specific circumstance while your father was here, I do sincerely apologize that we did not meet your needs. Thank you for bringing your disappointment to our attention so we may use this as a training tool for staff in the future. Sincerely - Stacey Richey, Operations Specialist

I am very positive about The Amber assisted living. The new management is great - very conscientious about doing a great job and ensuring everything runs well and residents are well cared for. The staff are extraordinary - very caring and friendly towards the residents there. It's not just for show, either - I've walked through the facility on off-hours to visit relatives and have seen caregivers sitting and speaking with residents, holding their hands and bringing them comfort. This to me is what assisted living is truly about and I am so thankful that The Amber is where some of our family has decided to live now that they need extra help. There is always something going on there like bingo or pedicures or folks gather in the group area to talk or play piano or just sit and relax. If you're looking for a safe place for family members who need extra care, where the staff are attentive and kind and the food is pretty darn good - then check out The Amber.

January 3, 2019Thank you, Patrick, for taking the time to post your positive comments about The Amber! We love our residents and we really appreciate you!
This is false advertising the [name removed] isn't friendly, the staff aren't well trained, the new supervisor is like a [removed] prison warden...she is rude, unkind, heartless, and untrustworthy!! She forbids the staff and the residents to talk to each other...tore down all the residents arts and crafts projects off the walls, went through staffs personnel files and destroyed important papers that were for the good of that staff...they don't have a nurse at all for the residents cause they quit cause of [removed] and her attitude, activities for the residents is mainly done for them instead of having them do them..the activity director is to busy being [removed] Lil eyes and ears...there is no vechile for the residents to go on outing in,the food is horrible, the care is just as bad residents areicky to get a shower 1x a week..rooms are unkept, there medications given late or not ordered so they go without...that place needs to be shut down...and closed for good....worse assisted living home ever in clatskanie, oregon

A Place for Mom has scored Sapphire at The Amber 1 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
