Brookdale Utica Assisted Living
5.0

My brother [name removed] was only at Brookdale for two weeks. He passed away last May. The two weeks at Brookdale were wonderful. They were amazing. It will be my choice for me when the time comes. They took care of my brother at nursing home level when he was there for assisted living. They cared for him so well! We were very grateful to the staff!

American House Sterling Woods Senior Living in Sterling Heights, MI
3.9

if you are looking for true Assisted Living at the price quoted, this isn't it. There are many charges for which people like us can't afford. They are too cheap to provide internet access and most of us baby boomers want it. This is what is called enhanced living. And as of August 1 they're going to charge us $50 for a check even if it's a cashiers check and 3.9% if you use a credit card. As of today you can't get food from the kitchen to take to your room. Typical large corporation. I would not recommend American House Sterling at this time.

Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan

Independent Living

For those who would wish to live primarily without personal care assistance but wish for the assistance of having their household chores handled by professionalls, an Independent Living Community may be the perfect option. You or your loved one can live their lives as they see fit while their food is prepared by a professionall chef, housekeeping and laundry duties are handled by staff, and social activities are organized and scheduled. Along with their daily needs being met, residents can enjoy an opportunity to be among peers, in a community with others of similar age groups and interests. Typically comprised of a private living space and a full kitchen, these communities offer residences with many of the amenities of apartment life but with none of the hassle. Guests can be invited over and entertained, and there will be more time to spend with them with the basic maintenance of daily chores out of the way. While policies vary between locations, many residences allow pets as well. If residents decide they would like to enlist the services of independent health care providers, they may always do so. There are a variety of costs and advantages to keep in mind while determining an independent living community. It is important to determine if these amenities are included in the service plan: internet access, housekeeping, cable TV, utilities, Waiting list deposit, transportation, move-in fee, and parking. The conveniences associated with independent living include healthcare center, community activities, private rental hall, transportation, security guards, restaurant-style dining hall, beauty salon & barber shop, and laundry service.
