What we really liked about the Vernon Center was the staff, they had taken such great care of our loved one. They really gave him some wonderful last days. I would highly recommend this community to other families looking for a community for their loved one. The reason we gave the meals 2 stars was because of the lack of variety they had.

The Vernon Center was awful: Tenants had to leave their room and go outside to another building for food No communal dining area. Tenants were served food in carry out containers. No sense of community or social activities. The rooms were very small with no conveniences Never met the staff. On my first visit the custodial staff showed me around No amenities Rooms not clean and furnished rooms had old furniture Pricing is super overpriced. I would not send my worst enemy there.
The community was okay when we toured and it was smaller. The pricing was more than we wanted to spend.
The place has not opened its commons area to residents since COVID so there isn't much interaction with staff. The food is good although some days it's minimal. Hopefully activities will start back up (suspended due to COVID)

Overall I like it here at The Vernon Center. The value for the money works for me and I am able to handle it. There are definitely some issues that need to be taken care of, but it is alright. I do like my apartment as well.
It is a great fit for my uncle. He is settling in quite nicely so far. They do provide activities but my uncle is more of a loner, and based on his age he is quite comfortable not participating. He enjoys the calm and peaceful atmosphere. The staff is very kind and friendly. It is a nice and clean, welcoming community. He does enjoy the food they provide. We believe he is in a safe, and comfortable environment.

Did not like the studio apartments, very small. Resident would have to go outside to go to the dining area. Not a good fit for my cousin.

Since using the community my resident has been doing very well. She has staff that are friendly, attentive, and respectful. Activities are also available for all the residents. I think the community is kept clean in all areas and in my resident's room.

A Place for Mom has scored The Vernon Center 9.5 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
