American House Grosse Pointe Cottage

This facility is good, we've been very pleased. Housekeeping is regular and they do very well. Communication with the family is good. I would recommend them to friends and family.

My loved one, is not happy with the food, and complains that is is sometimes bland and cold. Overall, my loved one is still adjusting to the community. We picked this facility, becasue it is an exclusive community, and it gave my loved one the opportunity to connect with old friends.

We had a favorable opinion of the proximity of American House to our home, It is in a neighborhood setting so it felt more like home rather than a business setting. What was really stood out to us was the nice balance of activities throughout the month and it was things that any resident could take advantage of whether they were in independent living, assisted living, or like my mom memory care. She has transitioned into hospice care and they made that transition easy and seamless which is very important. The addition of the hospice care has been a plus. We would give our highest recommendations that others check out American House Cottage.

We chose American House Cottage because of the availability of a unit at the time, the convenient location, and also the appearance of the facility, it was very clean. The main thing that I would tell others is that the management team here is very personable and helpful. I would definitely recommend to other families looking.

We chose American House Cottage because of the convenient proximity to our home and also I felt that they had a strong staff. We also like that it is in a residential area so we can go out and walk. At this location, the staff have a very caring attitude towards all residents and they are constantly trying to innovate new ideas and activities for all levels of care. Nice location and nice facility. I was there right after lunch and barely saw anyone out and about, which was disappointing. I hoped to see people out of their rooms doing something. The focus of the tour was more open rooms than the actual services and activities that would be provided. Our main reason for moving mom is to increase her quality of life and get her doing more, and my tour did not give me that feeling moving her here would accomplish that.

Upon arrival at this community for our tour the staff made sure to greet us in a timely manor with welcoming smiles. They gave us a detailed tour with lots of great information about the facility. This place was just very costly and way over priced in my opinion for a retired community.

My grandma is doing wonderful, since moving into American House Cottage Senior Living. I am pleased with the care and communication that the staff offer. The community offers frequent activities for the residents to enjoy. My grandma enjoys the variety of food choices.

My brother was the guest at American House. He stayed four days as a trial visit. He was not comfortable there and left after four days. He has lived alone all his 94 years, and just could not adjust to group living. The family did not have a concern about the facilities, we did however question the confusion about his name. His name is Henry and his ID listed his name as Harvey. When I question it at the administration office they also had it wrong. This kind of mix up has the potential to cause problems. He was also upset that when they did get it straight, he was called Mr. Henry which of course he is not If there was a Mr. Henry at AH this also could cause a med. error. He is living at home with the assistance of in home care.
