Viva has changed this buildings atmosphere not only aesthetically, but emotionally. They truly invest themselves heart and soul. I never have to worry if my aunt is loved and cared for. it is exactly the atmosphere people need to thrive even through changes and struggles. A blessing of a building.

The front desk lady is AMAZING. The administration is good but has some response issues. The staffing problem is no different than most other jobs in America. Also, most aides are Personal Care Assistants and don't have CNA training, so perhaps the job is not what they expected. Overall, seriously, I am very pleased that your company advised me of them because very few people here ever knew they existed. Also, my loved one is thriving there and that is all I ever wanted.

It was not good care for my loved one. We picked this community, because they were so eager to help us and they seemed to care. I just want people to know if their loved one a is a level 5 care (high care) this is not the place for them.

Viva Senior Living is a small community and at any time I can text the people that are directly taking care of my mother. I get answers quickly. [name removed] [name removed] . And [name removed] are awesome. Also, they have a support group for memory care which is extremely helpful

Main reasons we chose Viva Senior Living at Harrisburg was because staff were attentive, their willingness to provide a bed, dresser, nightstand free of charge if we didn't have on. Amenable to suggestions related to activities and room setup. Staff is very attentive and friendly. One aid took it upon herself to buy me a basket. They are open to suggestions for activities.

Overall I would recommend Viva Senior Living. It's a good value for the price. Would like a little more attentiveness and understanding from medical providers such as doctors or physicians assistants on staff.

I would never recommend this facility. They didn't take care of my mom with any of the daily duties, and they basically just left her in her room. She was malnourished and severely dehydrated and was removed. She had to spend 5 days in the hospital after being removed from Viva. Horrible experience.

I gave it a 4 overall because of the lack of staffing, it is affecting the quality of care. The facility is clean and the staff are friendly. The rooms are very nice as well. They do have plenty of activities but she is not participating in anything yet. I would recommend Viva Senior Living at Harrisburg.

Getting something done takes some repeat requests, whether it's general things or care-related things. I think it's just a breakdown in communication somewhere. My loved one isn't thrilled with the food and thinks it's kind of bland, although I understand why it's prepared that way for the population they're serving it to. I do really like the staff. Everybody I 've met seems to be very friendly.

My mother was placed approximately two months ago in memory care of this facility and recently passed away. During her brief stay, I found the faciliy to offer an array of actitivities for the residents to keep them busy and involved. Place is clean and staff friendly. My mother was always clean. Meals were nutritious. Always felt she was safe. Placing a loved one is never an easy decision. Based on my mother's brief stay, I would recommend this particular facility.

I would highly recommend. We are really happy with this community. The staff communication is fairly well but hard to find who you need to talk to at times.

My uncle was here for a about a week and died. He never had any health issues, the only reason he was placed here was because the family was not able to give him the 24/7 care. They claimed he had a heart attack but I became aware that even though he had a doctors order that his food was to be cut up and fed to him, they left him and he choked on chicken and that is how he passed away. I don't understand if there are staff there 24/7 why wasn't he helped? I had friends who also had family members that went there and they died within a week or two even though there was nothing medically wrong expect that they could not fend for themselves, there should be no reason why 4 people died in one week. They ran out of gloves and was touching people, their food, their medicine, etc with their bare hands. I have not seen anyone wash their hands. This guy named [name removed] that works there gave me the worst attitude when I confronted him about the use of gloves. Plenty of others shared the same story.

November 4, 2022While we are very sorry to hear about your loss, we do not have any records indicating these incidents took place at our building in the past few years. First of all, it has been less than 24 hours and my father is already doing and feeling much better. I have desired for my father to be in an environment where he would be in an activity driven community well, The Viva Senior Living "Experience" has answered the call many many times over. I appreciate the warm and caring "good vibes only" my brother and I received during our very first visit. Special Thanks to Ms. [name removed], who worked and walked with my family and I every step of the way. I'm so grateful, I believe my father will live a longer, happier and more joyfully productive life now that he has been blessed to be apart of Viva <LIFE> Senior Living Community...

We brought our mom their based on a good recommendation. The sales department was very compassionate and delivered a message of the facility being a close knit family that everyone keeps an eye out on our love ones. We moved her in as respite. Realizing she wouldn’t be able to return home. In less than 30 days it was recommended to move her to memory care. Sad to say memory care seems to be no man’s land. She turned for the worse with no ability to reach out when needing assistance. We had a few family meetings with the facility and promises we’re made but the never did anything change. Unfortunately my mom passed. No one from the staff was there when we came to pick her up her remains, not one word of condolences. A week has passed and still nothing. It hurts to think we placed her there for care and now she is gone. Management doesnt understand the needs of their residents. I can’t figure out what She was paying for as a high level of care! Upset with ER trip.

My mother went into this facility able to be self reliant and after 2 years and three falls of which we we were unaware of along with terrible care my mother’s overall condition went from good to bad. She was moved from one room to another for no apparent reason which caused her to have another fall while trying to get to the bathroom in the middle of the night . This fall put her into the hospital. At this point we moved her to another facility where she receives much better care and oversight. Do not listen to the company A Place for Mom if they did their research they would never have recommended this place. Do your own research for your loved ones.

Our family had an in person tour and the community was really nice, but because of the size we thought it might be too overwhelming for our loved one. We also thought because its so big, the personal one-on-one care wouldn't be there as much. However, the community was still really nice and very clean.
Response from Viva Senior Living At Harrisburg
October 25, 2021Thank you for sharing your experience with families here. We understand that choosing the right personal care community is not a decision that anyone takes lightly. I would like to personally assure you that our residents do enjoy one-on-one care, and I would be happy to put you in contact with some of our other families so that you may hear how their experiences have been. Please know that I am always available for questions and look forward to hearing from you. Reach out to me any time at Justin.Lee@CommonwealthSL.com. Kind regards, Justin Lee Executive Director
Commonwealth Senior Living gets 5-stars across the board. We absolutely love everything about this community and the staff members. Anytime we have a concern it is addressed immediately and they explain how it will be fixed. We are so pleased with the love and care our loved ones are receiving. We finally have a peace of mind. The staff members do this because its a job, but they genuinely care for these residents are treat them like family. Also the location is very convenient for us to visit, and they are very open for families to visit.

While our loved one was there the staff members were very friendly. The activities were still pretty limited but they did have things like bingo and brain exercises. We do think the value for cost is right on par with the other communities we looked at.

A Place for Mom has scored Viva Senior Living At Harrisburg 9.5 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
