We toured with The Atrium at Cardinal Drive and had a great experience. The memory care unit was larger and we felt that our loved one would feel intimidated by the size of the space. That being said, they were excellent and we would have felt comfortable with our loved one here. We were impressed with them but ultimately chose what we thought would fit my loved ones needs best.
We've had a very positive experience at The Atrium at Cardinal Drive. The people running the place and working there are great and really stand out to me.

I have lived here for three years and overall I have enjoyed it. They have trouble keeping staff and the management has changed frequently. Atria corporate policies affecting quality of life are arbitary and uninformed. Be prepared for annual rent increases from 10 to 15 percent with no changes in quality.

The Atrium is an inviting environment. I believe they pay close attention to their residents, and they try to get them all active and participating so they're not just sitting there. They have multiple activities throughout the day. They catered to my mom's needs and were able to get her motivated. It's just a very clean, inviting, and cheerful atmosphere.

For the most part they are willing to work with the family, and it is easy going for the community. The staff communication with the family is very good. The food is pretty good and it looks appetizing, and it includes three meals a day. Medication management and bathing assistance is some of the care the community is able to provide. I would recommend the community to others for their loved ones.

Everyone is very friendly. The staff keep us informed about our loved one. The place is very clean, and there is no smell. The residents are kept engaged. My loved one admitted that they are very happy here. The staff are very good at answering our questions or concerns about our loved one. Transfers, medication management, and bathing assistance is some of the care the community provides for my loved one. The room, utilities, the level of care your loved one needs, all the meals, laundry, and housekeeping are included in the monthly fee. There is a menu for the resident to choose from. The community is accommodating to the residents, if the resident doesn't want to eat what is being served. The food is fantastic. The family even was able to have an Easter meal with our loved one, and we found the food to be fantastic as well.

Our family had a virtual tour, and the tour was very good. The person who gave the tour was great, she gave us a lot of information. It was pretty good, we were able to see the difference between all the different rooms and units.
Everything is going well at The Atrium. They call us once a week with updates. The care giving staff is very communicative and is quick to confirm anything they need in terms of my mother-in-law's care. Because the community is on lock down as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, the staff offered to FaceTime with us to make sure my mother-in-law got time to see us and interact with us. The cost is steep and my mother-in-law is quickly running low on funds, and The Atrium does not accept Medicaid so she will need to move relatively soon. They normally have good activities available for the residents as well. The executive director is fantastic and is always very communicative and will to address any of our concerns.

Visit only. Wait list. This was a very clean, spacious community. I liked the amount of space available for the residents to move around in though there didn't seem to be a lot of available independent activities. All staff were very friendly and informative. The one negative is that there is one nurse that administers medication who is on site 8-8. If anyone needed medication outside that time, there is no one to administer it. This won't work with someone who needs emergency medication like inhalers.

My Dad has been at The Atrium at Cardinal Drive for the past 4 months & my siblings and I are extremely happy with the care he is getting. The facility is immaculate, decor feels like a comfortable home & the staff is very caring & loving. There is always something going on to keep him engaged & interested. I am so happy that we found this wonderful home away from home for him!

I was dreading moving my mom from her previous assisted living place to a memory care facility. It was the best thing I did. She is smiling, more communicative and I swear her memory is a tad better. An environment where she is looked after and nourished makes a big difference,

Very clean and awesome staff. However staff is under paid. The residents can be very difficult. I as a family member pay way too much and the poor aides is under paid. How does that work!?!

I would not recommend it this community to anybody. It was a not a good experience, and there are many things this community need to improve on. The communication was very nonprofessional. I have ran a business, and this is unprofessional community. I was not happy with my husbands stay at this community.

The staff here is great and they are very nice. They have been trying to do everything they can to make sure that my loved one is comfortable. However, I did have a huge problem with the medication that my loved one received. It was not right and my loved one fell and broke an arm. I feel there is just a communication problem, but it is being worked on.

Response from The Atrium at Cardinal Drive
February 17, 2016One of the many benefits of being a senior living company is the ability to create moments that wow our family members. Thanks for your kind words!
This community was designed specifically for memory care so the layout is easy to navigate. Special consideration is paid to engage residents and the staff is very kind and friendly. Quite financially out of range for my family

November 30, 2015Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Individualized care is one of our hallmarks as we strive to meet the distinct needs of each resident. Please call our Executive Director at [removed] if we can ever be of service to you and your family.
We are thrilled with The Atrium. From the first time you walk in everyone is so pleasant and they really want to help. They welcome any question you and don't make you feel like they are put out. The staff are really good about walking you through the steps you need to know. It does not smell like a facility here, there is no odor. Everyone knows you by name. I have to say for the different places we have been they are extremely gracious. They are very accommodating. They have a lot of well coordinated activities for the Alzheimer's/dementia patients. No matter what issues we have come up with they have been very responsive. I am very pleased with this facility.

October 28, 2015Thank you! We take enormous pride in taking care of seniors throughout the aging experience. Please contact our Executive Director ([removed]) if there is ever anything with which we can assist you and your family.
This place is absolutely top class, and was one of the nicest looking places that we toured. Unfortunately it was also the most expensive. If I won the lottery this is definitely the place I would choose, the care they provide is absolutely top notch, and I know they'd be able to provide everything that it is possible to provide here.

A Place for Mom has scored The Atrium at Cardinal Drive 8.9 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
