Response from Ruth's House
May 15, 2024LB, thank you so very much for the kind words. We loved your mom! And by the smile she always had on her face - I do believe she loved us as well. Your mom was always so put together! A true fashionista! Her smile as well as her style will certainly be missed. We are thankful that you still come by and volunteer your time with us. We appreciate you.
Friendly pleasant actiive. I picked Ruth's House because I felt like mom would belong and fit with the other residents. The price point and location worked for me

Overall I would rate Ruth's House house as a 5. It was very clean. The staff was friendly. The CNA's were very caring and kind to my mom. The meals were good overall. My mom dislikes fish and they tended to eat fish several times a week. The downfall was there were not very many options because of the facility being kosher. The activities were engaging for my mom and overall it was a positive experience for both mom and I. The director of the facility [name removed] is also very accommodating and supportive. I would recommend Ruth's House for respite or assisted living.

My mom has been at Ruths House for some time now and I must say they have not regretted my decision to move her into an Assisted Living Community. Everyone is friendly and caring from the receptionist to the housekeeper and everyone in-between. The staff really takes in and cares for the resident as their own family member. Highly recommend!

Our family had an in person tour with Ruth's House and it was our second choice. All the places we looked at except [community name removed] had assigned seats in the dining room which my parents didn't like. Plus my parents are Catholic and felt the culture at Ruth's didn't feel right to them.
Response from Ruth's House
April 10, 2023Hello and thank you for your feedback. I understand with your parents being Catholic they may not have felt they would be comfortable at Ruth's House, however, we do serve people of all faiths. In the very beginning we were mostly a Jewish population community, but now it is a very small amount, and the majority of residents are of non-Jewish faith. Since we were your second choice, know that if for any reason you are unhappy with your first choice, we are still here for you and we can always discuss in more detail what being founded on Jewish principles truly means. Again, thank you and good luck to you.
I feel like from the minute we walked in for the tour, everyone was so nice and so friendly. There were a few ladies sitting in the foyer and they greeted us and were very friendly. Everyone was welcoming and it felt comfortable. It is a beautiful and clean facility They have great activities offered every day. I would absolutely recommend Ruth's House, my mom has been here since mid-September and loves it.

Response from Ruth's House
January 20, 2023Cara, thank you so much for your kind words. We all love your mom and feel she is such a great addition to our Ruth's House family!! :) When I am in the building she always is sure to say hello with her big smile. Our staff is very passionate about what they do on a day to day basis for the residents that live with us, and it sure is nice when families notice. Again, thank you kindly.
My mother has been a resident @ Ruth's House for 2 1/2 years. The care she receives is great. The attendants are very friendly and helpful. They treat my mother with respect and treat her like she was their own mother. I am very happy knowing she is in good hands. I cannot find any fault with anyone or anything. This has been a very positive experience. I would highly recommend them for a loved one.

Response from Ruth's House
July 10, 2022Alan, Thank you so very much for your kind words. Our staff take pride in their work and it is truly appreciated when families notice. They do indeed treat the residents like family, it is in their nature. It is an absolute pleasure caring for your mom, she is a love.
Ruth's House is an overall good place. Communication between the community and myself could be better. There were times when my loved one left to go to the hospital, but they didn't contact me. There were times when they arrived back from the hospital, and I wasn't contacted either. I've also had payment issues where they've increased the prices without my permission. Aside from that, it's a secure community and I feel safe having my loved one there. I would recommend Ruth's House to others.

Response from Ruth's House
July 10, 2022Hello, I appreciate your review and also feel Ruth's House is indeed a safe and secure setting for folks with that higher level of memory loss. Our Garden neighborhood continues to implement changes to improve and increase care options as well as a remodel of a fully appointed Sensory Room to assist and redirect residents experiencing anxiety or agitation. Along with the comfort of the community and all we have to offer our residents, we do pride ourselves on good communication. I see you feel their needs to be improvement, and we are always looking for ways to improve. I would love to get more details, and discuss how we could be communicating better. Please reach out to me directly @ 413-310-4693 to discuss further. Again, thank you kindly for the review.

April 4, 2022Hello and thank you for your review. There truly is no better way to see all we have to offer at our Ruth's Hose, as well as the campus than an in-person tour.
My mother-in-law was a resident of this community up until her recent death. I can not say enough about Ruth’s House. The staff is so friendly and caring. Mom would say that they treated her like a queen. The chef knew what to prepare her if she did not care for that night’s selection. Everyone knew her and us by name. I asked her once if she pressed her button after a fall. She told me she didn’t have to-four staff members heard her and rushed in. The community is always clean; and the residents are always happy and well cared for. We are so grateful to have found Ruth’s House.

April 4, 2022Michelle, Thank you so much for your kind words. Your mother-in-law was indeed a wonderful woman and truly communicated joy in everything she did. She was a smiling face to all who encountered her, and she is missed by residents and staff alike. Again, thank you for your kind words.
My mother-in-law, [name removed], recently passed away. She was a resident at Ruth’s House until her passing. She felt that the staff treated her like a queen. Ruth’s House is an incredible place. The staff took their time to learn about [name removed] and her needs. The Chef went out of her way to prepare meals that she would like and be able to eat. She especially enjoyed the wide variety of activities. When my mother-in-law fell, four aides were in her room before she had a chance to push her button! [name removed] referred to the aides as her “friends”. She would always say that is my friend, she helps me. If you are looking for a caring, compassionate, family-oriented place that provides excellent care, look no further. [name removed]

Very happy with the facility. Very happy with the Activity Staff. They engaged my mother in activities and trips. This is the happiest I have seen her. I can never get a hold of her because she is always out of her room having fun.

March 15, 2022John, thank you for your kind words. We have a fantastic life enrichment director who knows exactly how to engage all of her residents. She keeps it interesting and exciting, and yes, keeping residents out of their apartments! After all, one of the main reasons folks come to us is the socialization, we want to be sure they are doing just that!
It's been a big disappointment. I expected more. We went 3 weeks before my loved ones bedding has been changed. It is supposed to be weekly cleaning. That is not happening. Emailed the director with concerns. I sent an email for my loved ones doctor appointment and that was not replied too. I got a call from the visiting nurse saying "your not being responsible" when his medicine was not delivered. I had no idea he had medicine sent in to be picked up. I was exposed to covid in this place and no one called and told me of their outbreak of covid. My loved one informed me. They did not call to tell me at all. My loved one was quarantined for 3 weeks. They wouldn't take responsibility for bringing in covid to this facility. They said they couldn't communicate to me because he is his own person? I am his health care proxy and power of attorney and they still aren't notifying me of these things. He is supposed to be getting 2 showers a week and that is not happening.

March 11, 2022I want to thank you for your kind review. We strive for excellence on every front. Thank you.
The community really gets to know the residents quickly and adjust the care based on her personality. This is a great community for memory care. I would recommend this community to others based on my experience.

March 11, 2022Annette, thank you kindly! We do pride ourselves on truly connecting to our residents so we are very happy to hear this from you. By the way, we adore your mom, she is an absolute pleasure to have as part of our Garden Community! :)
Extremely understaffed, and the staff that is there are extremely unprofessional and have zero respect for their clients. The head person there know they were understaffed and she would make the workers work longer hours. They were not physically capable to do so and she still made them work extra long hours. It really just seemed like the residents sat like zombies in chairs, they would not even let them go outside.

March 11, 2022Thank you for your kind words. We truly enjoy showcasing our residence. We have great staff as well as great residents and a personal tour usually shows both of these points off to those who tour. We hope you decide to move your loved one in with us so they become part of our community. Again, thank you.
This community was similar to another that we liked. It has activities, friendly staff, a good atmosphere. After exploring out options this was not the most closest place to the family.

March 11, 2022Thank you for your kind words. We do realize that location is very important to be sure you can visit often. We hope you found a suitable community for your loved one.
Many living area upgrades, plenty of space for family and friends to visit. Several living choices, nice dining areas, many perks for residents. There is also a Day facility nearby. As a side note, this is an all Kosher Community. Pricing is reasonable for the services and amenities offered.

Response from Ruth's House
March 11, 2022Thank you kindly. Our campus of care does have allot of options for eldercare needs, one of which being our adult day health program. We also have a Green House (TM) model of short term rehab, a long term care nursing home, home health, hospice plus palliative care, independent subsidized living as well as our assisted living. And yes, we are a fully kosher community, including a full service café (Michael's) for not only our residents and employees but we are open to the public as well. Founded on Jewish values, serving all faiths.
Nice layout of memory unit. Like the fact nursing home and rehab on same campus/different buildings. More complete care to be given on unit. Price slightly lower than Armbrook with more care offered.

Response from Ruth's House
March 11, 2022Thank you for your kind words. Yes, we do have allot of folks who appreciate the campus of care model so loved ones can age in place. Similar to a life plan or retirement community (CCRC) yet, no hefty buy-in. Especially helpful when a couple moves in and one needs more care than the other, they both remain within our system, close to one another as they age - very important to keep loved ones together as long as possible.

A Place for Mom has scored Ruth's House 9.4 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
